Mrs. Betty Joan Collins age 83 of Marietta, GA. formerly of Blairsville passed away on Sunday October 16, 2016 in the Chatuge Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Collins was born on Oct. 5, 1933 in Rome, GA., the daughter of the late Arnold Everett and the late Idell Sampson Everett. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She graduated from Young Harris College where she taught classes on Byron Herbert Reece and taught school at Mceachern High School in Cobb County for over twenty years. She received her Master Degree in Education. Mrs. Collins attended Old Union Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Collins are her loving husband and best friend of sixty four years, Herbert A. Collins of Marietta, one daughter and son in law, Diane and David Jessup of Blue Ridge, one son and daughter in law, Stanley and Sharon Collins of Elizabethtown, KY., three grandchildren, Lindsay Breedlove, Andrew Breedlove, T.J. and Whitney Breedlove, two great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Tucker Breedlove, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Special music will be presented by Lora Fox. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Stanley, Wayne, Stacy, and Clarence Collins, T.J. and Andrew Breedlove. Interment will follow in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-9:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
