Mr. David Rutherford Fitkin, age 79, of Blairsville, passed away peacefully on Monday October 24, 2016 in Chattanooga following a sudden illness. Mr. Fitkin was born on Jan. 4, 1937, in Pamona, CA., the son of the late Robert Fitkin and the late Iva Lacey Fitkin. David was a graduate of The University of Ga. He was a Veteran of the US Navy. David was a loving and caring husband, father, brother and grandfather. He enjoyed sailing and cars. He was a very kind, generous, and caring person who always was willing to lend a hand, and helpful advice to anyone in need. David had a great sense of humor, and loved life. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Fitkin. David was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Surviving Mr. Fitkin are his loving wife, and best friend, Mary Ann Fitkin of Blairsville, two step children, Rachel Bryan of Palm Harbor, FL., James A, Bryan, Jr. of Lilburn, GA., one sister, Patricia Fitkin of Napa, CA., one grand daughter, Lianne Bryan, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Juan Areiza officiating. Special music will be presented by Ron Gaucher. Donations may be made to St. Mary’s Independent Living Extensions, Inc. (S.M.I.L.E.) in David’s memory. Interment will follow in St. Clare’s Haven Cemetery with the North Ga. Honor Guard conducting Military Honors. The family will meet with friends following the services at a reception in Marian Hall at St. Francis of Assisi.
