Mr. Emrie Edwin Gottfried age 87 of Blairsville passed away on Saturday November 26, 2016 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Gottfried was born on October 24, 1929 in Listowell Ontario Canada the son of the late Jacob Gottfried and the late Marion Gibbons Gottfried. Before his retirement Emrie was a Barber by trade. Emrie enjoyed people and was a friend to many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catheryn Westervelt.

Surviving Mr. Gottfried are a nephew, William (Bill) Gottfried of Waterloo Ontario Canada, niece, Nancy Shantz of Kitchener Ontario Canada, a friend, Joyce Fears of Blairsville, many friends at Branan Lodge, many other relatives and friends also survive.

No services are planned at this time. His wishes were to be cremated and his ashes scattered on the overlook on Richard Russell Highway. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Union County Humane Society or to a favorite charity of your choice in Emrie’s memory.
