Mrs. Alice Ann Ballard age 55 of Blairsville passed away on Wednesday Jan. 25, 2017 from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mrs. Ballard was born on Nov. 12, 1961 in Murphy, NC., the daughter of the late Fred Thurman McGaha and the late Estella Ellen Abernathy McGaha. She was a lifelong resident of Union County. Alice enjoyed collecting things, walking at Meeks Park with her family and most of all loved the Lord. She always made sure that her family always had a good Christmas. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnny Worthy and her second husband, Robert Eugene Ballard Sr and a daughter, Barbara Ann Worthy. Alice was a member of the Fellowship of the Hills Church.

Surviving Mrs. Ballard are her loving husband and best friend, Claude Pitre of Blairsville, two sons and daughters in law, Jack and Melissa Worthy of Blairsville, Robert and Tiffany Ballard Jr. of Commerce, one daughter, Robyn Ballard of Blairsville, three sisters and brothers in law, Mary Ellen and Roger Weaver, Susie and Jerry Cheek, Janie and Joe Williams all of Blairsville, two brothers and sisters in law, Freddie and Pat McGaha of Blairsville, Charlie Joe and Tonya McGaha of Murphy,grandchildren, Joseph Eugene Ballard, Layla Alice Reanna Cothren,Starr Worthy, Gracie Ann Ballard, Robert Elijah Ballard, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday Jan. 31, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Marty Duncan officiating. Interment will follow on Wednesday Feb. 1, 2017 at 12:00 pm from the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Roebuck, SC. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to help defray expenses in memory of Alice. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-9:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
