Sherman David Stover Jr. 79 of Suches, Ga. passed away Saturday January 28 2017 after an extended illness. Sherman was born March 18 1937. He was the son of the late Rev. Sherman Stover Sr. and Thressa Anderson Stover. Sherman was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for the General Motors Corporation and then for the U.S. Forest Service in the senior services program. Sherman enjoyed a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing. Sherman is preceded in death by his father and mother,brothers John, Herman, and Bill Stover, and Sister Ruby Nevell.

He is survived by his sons David and Debbie Stover of Villa Rica Ga. and Trey Stover of Dallas Ga; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, Brothers Sidney Stover of Suches Ga; and MJ Stover of Dahlonega Ga; Sisters Edna Griffith of Cleveland Tn; Rosa Haygood of Suches Ga; Eva Nell Pruitt of Suches Ga; and Carolynn Ray of Dahlonega Ga. Sherman attended Harmony Church of God.

Funeral services will be held on Monday January 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm from the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church with the Rev. Derrick Pruitt and Rev. David Griffis officiating. Special music will be presented by Doug Pruitt and Brenda Brookshire. The body will lie in state at the church from 12-1:00 pm on Monday. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in Mr. Stover’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 4-7:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
