Mrs. Helen June Phillips Blaylock age 78 of Andrews passed away peacefully on Saturday February 18, 2017 in the Valley View Care Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Blaylock was born on August 8, 1938 in Andrews, NC, the daughter of the late Gordon Phillips and the late Blanche Luther Phillips. She was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County. She had worked with the Cherokee County Schools System for over twenty years. Helen enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and most of all spending time with her family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and also two brothers, Marvin and Jack Phillips. Helen was a member of Valley River Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Blaylock are her loving husband of sixty years, Rolin L.V. Blaylock of Andrews, three sons and daughters in law, Marlon and Phyllis Blaylock of Andrews, Jeffrey and Sherry Blaylock of Asheville, Bryan and Susan Blaylock of Seymour, TN., one sister and brother in law, Ina and Mike Wheeler, three brothers and three sisters in law, Rev. Roy and Marie Phillips, Bill and Faye Phillips, Melvin Phillips, two sisters in law, Sandra Owenby and Jean Phillips all of Andrews, grandchildren, Marlena and Shane Cutshaw, Kari and Michael Bond, Katie Blaylock, Sierra Cutshaw, Jesse Blaylock, Jake Blaylock, Seth Blaylock and Lea, Cody Blaylock and Dez, Zachary Blaylock and Tyler Gant, Josh and Lindsey Carpenter, Jeremy Carpenter and Danielle, and many great- grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday Feb. 22, 2017 at 4:00pm from the Valley River Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Phillips and Rev. Steve West officiating. Special music will be presented by Michael and Kari Bond, Spencer, Sarah, Gracie and Dréa, Sonny and Margaret Reighard, and Jeaneane Wilson. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Valley River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund PO 1189 Andrews in Helen’s memory. Visitation services will be at the church on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and the Memorial service will follow at 4:00. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
