Mrs. Nettie Mary Helton age 90 of Young Harris GA passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 23, 2017 at the North East Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Helton was born on January 15, 1927 in Union County, the daughter of the late Casper Asbury Smith and the late Flora Ann Rich. She is a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She worked at Georgia Boot, boot manufacturing company for 15 years, and retired in 1985. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Homer Helton who died in 1998, her four brothers Lester, B.H., Casper, and Cary Smith, five sister, Ollie Berry, Virginia Holder, Edna Smith, Bessie Smith, and Louise Smith, and her sons Farrell(Buck)Smith and Calvin Helton. Mrs. Helton was of the Baptist faith and loved her church and the Lord.

Surviving Mrs. Nettie Helton are her four children, Betty Ruth Smith of Stone Mountain Georgia, Carl and Jeanny Helton of Lula Georgia, Clyde Herman Smith of Gainesville Georgia, and Clayton and Diane Helton of Gainesville Georgia,Daughter-in-Law Teresa Smith of Blairsville,her twelve grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Helton will be Saturday May 27, 2017 at 12:00 P.M. at the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Helton and Rev. Terry Sosebee officiating. Interment will follow at the Zebulon Baptist Church cemetery. In lieu of flower if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to Zebulon Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Helton. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from6-9:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
