Mrs. Haseltine Marr Barnes, age 84, of Mint Hill NC, passed away at Union General Hospital on Friday, May 26, 2017, after a brief illness. Mrs. Barnes was born on September 11, 1932 in Swain County, NC, the daughter of Robert Marr and Dess Dehart Marr. Mrs. Barnes is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Maxie Odell Barnes, sisters Eula Dillard, Helen Maynor, Lois Motsinger, and brother Allen Marr, and grandson Benjamin Aaron Prevatte.

Surviving Mrs. Barnes are daughter Treva Barnes of Prattville, AL, daughter Sandra Utegaard of Carmel Valley CA, sister Gladys Maynor of Valdese NC, brother Arvin Marr of Bryson City NC, sister Betty Smith of Kernersville, NC, sister and brother-in-law Margie and Andrew Hall of Franklin NC, sister Ann Marr of Bryson City NC, brother and sister in law Bob and Betsy Marr of Bryson City, NC, grandchildren Robert Prevatte of Prattville, AL, Brenton and Lauren Prevatte of Prattville, AL, Rylan Utegaard of Monterey, CA, great-granddaughter Evvie June Prevatte of Prattville, AL and many other friends and relatives also survive.

A funeral service for Mrs. Barnes will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 2:00PM in the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday May 28, 2017 between 1:00PM and 2:00PM. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Bob Marr, Robert Prevatte, and Brenton Prevatte. Interment will follow at the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery Trust at 1641 Old Gum Log Rd. Blairsville, GA 30512 in Mrs. Barnes’ memory.
