Mrs. Effie S. Trogdon, age 94, of Blairsville, GA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Trogdon was born on November 27, 1922, in Mt. Pleasant PA, the daughter of the late George Saloom and Afife Douzy Saloom. Effie moved to the Blairsville area from Atlanta in 1982. She was a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed working for Church Missions for the Nazarene Church. Effie also volunteered at Resthaven Florist for many years. Mrs. Trogdon is preceded in death by her husband French Steele Trogdon, grandson Samuel Steele Hicks, and grandson Charles Steele Trogdon.

Surviving Mrs. Trogdon are daughter and son-in-law Georgette and Ron Howerton of Murphy, NC, daughter and son-in-law Charlotte and Don Carrabotta of Rockwood PA, son George Trogdon of Blairsville, GA, daughter Isabelle Trogdon of Suwanee, GA, brother Albert Saloom of Scottsdale PA, brother Eugene Saloom of Mt. Pleasant, PA, as well as five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, many other friends and relatives also survive.

A funeral service for Mrs. Trogdon will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 10:00am in the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ivan Rexroth and Rev. Mark Hamby officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Garden in Decatur, GA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 between 9:00am and 10:00am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Blairsville Church of the Nazarene for Missions. Mountain View Funeral home of Blairsville, GA is in charge of arrangements.
