Mr. Billy “Bill” Ledford age 75 of Blairsville passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday July 20, 2017 following an extended illness. Mr. Ledford was born on Sept. 3, 1941 in Union County the son of the late Paul Ledford and the late Maybell Brown Ledford. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Bill operated the Standard Service Station on the Square in Blairsville during the late 1970’s and the early 1980’s. He retired from Heritage Propane after many years of service. Bill was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather and was a great friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents and also a brother, Ray Ledford and a sister, Opal Young. Bill was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving Bill are his loving wife and best friend of fifty four years, Shelby Jean Nation Ledford of Blairsville, two sons and daughters in law, Randy and Robin (Panter) Ledford of Blairsville, Brian and Alicia Ledford of Blairsville, one sister, Pauline Hill of Morganton, four grandchildren, Logan and Samantha Panter, Alex Panter, Ryan Ledford and Olivia Ledford, one great grandson, Gabe Panter, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday July 23, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Tommy Seay, and Rev. Luke Durden officiating. Special music will be presented by Scott Lance and Tommy Seay. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Troy Ledford, Joey Grindle, Logan Panter, Alex Panter, Larry Jones and Steve Ware. Serving as honorary will be Joe Lamping, Max Ware, Larry Coleman and Larry Young. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6-9:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
