Mr. Billy Joe Long age 54 of Copperhill formerly of Blue Ridge and Blairsville passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday September 2, 2017 following a brief illness. Billy was born on March 25, 1963 in Blue Ridge, GA., the son of Pauline Pilkey Long and the late D.L. Long. He owned and operated Long’s Landscaping for over the past twenty five years. He enjoyed working on and trading vehicles in his spare time and being outdoors. He was a loving father, son, brother and grandfather .One of his greatest accomplishments was when he found the Lord and was saved a few years ago. Billy was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Billy Joe are his mother, Pauline Long of Blue Ridge, three sons and two daughters in law, Brian and Ashley Long of Brevard, NC., Andrew and Kandice Long of Blue Ridge, Shane Long of Copperhill, four sisters and one brother in law, Elsie and Arlin McClure of Ellijay, Wanda Phelps of Liberty, KY., Brenda Reese and Linda Potts both of Nancy, KY., three brothers and one sister in law, Danny Long of Liberty, KY., Ray Long of Blairsville, J.D. and Pat Long of McCaysville, six grandchildren, Ethan, Aiden, Lucas, Payton, Ryleigh and Aundre’ah, several cousins, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 5, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Randy McClure officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Brian, Shane, Andrew and Nathan Long, Arlin McClure, Loretta Long and Matthew Potts. Interment will follow in the Dial Church of Christ Cemetery where he will rest next to his beloved family. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-9:00 pm.
