Mrs. Mable Virginia Panther age 87 of  Blairsville passed away peacefully on Monday November 27, 2017 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Panther was born on August 25, 1930 in Hayesville, NC., the daughter of the late Jerry Owens and the late Martha Myers Owens. She was a lifelong resident of Union County. Mable loved cooking for others and was always wanting to be of help to anyone. She liked doing crossword puzzles, watching a good western watching basketball and listening to good Gosel music. But her favavoite was listening to Ralh Grice playing the piano and singing. Before retiring she had worked at Clifton Precision, Lazy R and at Ingles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Junior Panther in 1994, her son, Sonny Panther in 2017, brothers, Harley, Arnold, Dillard, Edward, Joe, Robert and Howard also one sister, Hattie. Mable was a member of Youngstown Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Panther are her special friends, Wanda and Quinton Holbrooks of Blairsville, her Loving nephew David and Ginger Owens of Warne, N. C. Betty Lackey of Blairsville, Joan Carroll of Blairsville, Ralph Grice of Blue Ridge, sister in laws, Stella Owens of Canton, NC., Mary Jane Owens of Peachtree, N. C. ,several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday December 1, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jonathan Hood officiating. Special music will be presented by Ralph Grice and Ned Wilcoxon. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Junior Taylor, Quinton Holbrooks, Wayne Roberts, David Owens, Howard Bryce and Johnny Carroll. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Youngstown Baptist and special caretakers at Union County Nursing Home. Interment will follow in the Union Memory Gardens cemetery where she will rest next to her beloved husband, Lewis. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Youngstown Baptist Church Building Fund in Mable’s memory.
