Mr. Roberto De Zayas Garcia, age 95, of Blairsville, Georgia, previously from Miami, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Union General Hospital. Roberto was born on August 27, 1922, in Holguin, Cuba to the late Roberto and Orfelina De Zayas. He retired overseeing all development projects in Bolivia and Nicaragua for Inter American Development Bank.  Prior to leaving Cuba, he served as comptroller for Banco Agricola e Industrial in Havana, Cuba.  Roberto dedicated his life to his family. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Roberto was a kind and outgoing man who always had a smile for everyone. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delia Pallas De Zayas in 1999. Roberto was of the Catholic faith.

Roberto is survived and lovingly remembered by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Patricia De Zayas, Alex and Michele De Zayas, and Robert and Barbara De Zayas; his sister, Leonor Gomez; his seven grandchildren and their spouses, Monica De Zayas; Alex De Zayas and wife, Emoe; Christy Jurado and husband, Salvi; Bryan De Zayas and wife, Jennifer; Ben De Zayas and wife, Melissa; Mitch De Zayas; and Robert De Zayas, Jr.; twelve great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the Memorial Plan Funeral Home in Hialeah, FL, with a graveside service at the Miami Memorial Park Cemetery. The following loved ones served as pallbearers: Ben N. De Zayas, Alex De Zayas, Alex De Zayas Jr., Bryan De Zayas, Ben R. De Zayas, Mitch De Zayas, Carlos Hernandez, Gabriel Hernandez, Bryan De Zayas, Jr., Daniel De Zayas, and Amanda Gonzalez. Donations may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America in memory of Mr. Roberto De Zayas Garcia.
