Lawrence Neil Stroud

August 23, 1926 – January 06, 2019

Mr. Lawrence Neil Stroud of Hayesville, NC passed away on January 6th, 2019 at the Clay County Care Center in Hayesville, NC following an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he was served as Deacon for over sixty five years. He was also a member of the Stephens Lodge #414 F&AM; as well as being previously married for 60 years to his late wife Mamie Lands.

Mr. Stroud was born on August 23rd, 1926 in Hayesville, NC., to the late  Alfred Carter Stroud and Eva Bell Ledford Stroud. He is preceded in death by his wife Mamie Stroud in 2005, son, Floyd Lands, a daughter, Patricia Plott,son in law Loyal Shhok, sisters; Maude Allison, Lillie Allison and Hazel Stroud, brothers; Will Stroud, Claude Stroud, Robert Stroud, and Floyd Stroud.

Mr. Stroud is survived by his children; Johnny & Amanda Stroud of Young Harris, GA., Betty Shook of Young Harris, GA., and Lloyd & JoAnn Lands of Hayesville, NC., daughter-in-law, Kathleen Lands  of Hayesville, NC., and son-in-law, Ronnie Plott. Many nieces, nephews, as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 2:00pm at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev Clark Moss and Rev. John Talley officiating. Special music will be presented by the Hughes family. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers; Ricky Plott, Ray Plott, Scott Lands, Paydon Shook, Rodney Stroud, and Tony Beasley. The following gentleman will also serve as honorary pallbearers; Donald Cheeks, Donald Allison, Willis Allison, Robert Garrett, Bill Norton, and Mike McClure. Interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery where he will rest next to his beloved wife Mamie. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday January 8, 2019 from 6pm-9pm at the Shiloh Baptist Church
