Virgil “Bill” William Gleasure: Obituary

Mr. Virgil “Bill” William Gleasure age 77 of Wesley Mtn. Drive Blairsville passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday July 4, 2019 following an extended illness. Mr. Gleasure was born on Jan. 31, 1942 in Flint, MI., the son of the late Virgil H. Gleasure and the late Hattie M. Howse Gleasure. Bill was an avid woodworker and was an all around handyman who could repair almost anything. He was a liver recipient for over twenty years ago. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Bill also loved his dog Grady whole heartedly. Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union County.

Surviving Bill are his loving wife and best friend of fifty six years, Barbara Clark Gleasure of Blairsville,  two sons and daughters in law, Craig and Buffy Gleasure of Lenoir, NC., Scott and Harley Gleasure of Lexington, SC., one daughter, Lynette Gleasure of Royal Oak, MI., one brother and sister in law, Kent and Dawn Gleasure of Highlands Ranch, CO., five grandchildren, Shaun, Justin and Jordan Gleasure, Jeremy Conner and Shaun Saniee, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday July 9, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Union County with Rev. Donald Landen officiating. Special music will be presented. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church MAC or to the Union County Humane Society Mtn. Shelter in Bill’s memory. The family will meet with friends following the services.
