Blairsville, Ga – Union County Sheriff’s Office warns residents on the southern end of the county about a driveway paving scam.
A group of men traveling throughout the south end of the county are attempting to “pave” driveways. The individuals are driving a white unmarked pick-up truck and present the business card of “Road Pro.” Reports also indicate the scam contractor has a flashing light on the top of the truck. The card offers no other information as to the identity or how to contact the individuals.
The door-to-door scam artists are in fact spraying an oily substance down on driveways that washes off after one rainstorm. They don’t name their price until after completing the job.
Cherokee County, NC Sheriff’s Office and Blue Ridge, Ga residents have also reported sitings of these individuals visiting neighborhoods.
The paving scam individuals sometimes wear a safety vest and always claim to have a load of gravel or pavement available. After performing a subpar job, they will charge a large amount for the work. Authorities advise obtaining quotes from contractors upfront and in writing.
If anyone has any information about these individuals or if they make contact, please contact the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
