Mrs. Barbara Ann Schmalenberg age 86 of Mtn Cove Road, Blairsville, formerly of Long Island, NY., passed away peacefully on February 1, 2020 in the Fannin Regional Hospital following an extended illness. Barbara was born on July 7, 1933 in New York City, NY., daughter of the late Charles Posik & late Margaret Manley. In her past-time, she did a lot of knitting & gardening. She is preceded in death by her loving husband & best-friend, Richard Eric Schmalenberg. Barbara was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include a son; Richard Allen Schmalenberg of Blairsville, a sister; Caroline Denatale of Shaftsbury, VT., special friends; Chris & Cindy Boland of Blairsville, and Barbara Tedder of Atlanta, GA.

A mass will be held on Wednesday February 5, 2020 at 11:00am from the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Deacon Larry Casey officiating. Special music will be presented Steve Smith. The family will meet with friends following the services.
