Mr. Carey Edward Waldrip Sr., age 81 of Track Rock Gap Road, Blairsville, formerly of Dechard, TN., passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 4, 2020 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Waldrip was born on August 28, 1938 in Atlanta, GA., the son of the late Danie T. Waldrip & late Martha Emma Glore. Carey was a big history buff; especially when it came to genealogy. He also did a lot of hiking in his free time. Carey was a member of Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church in Young Harris.

Survivors include his loving wife and best-friend of 60 years; Kay Waldrip of Blairsville, daughter & son-in-law; Laura & Stan Campbell of Blairsville, son & daughter-in-law; Carey Jr. & Chantal Waldrip of Williamsburg, VA., two brothers & a sister-in-law; Daniel Waldrip of Atlanta, GA., Wayne & Judy Waldrip of Smyrna, GA., and two grandchildren; Todd & Tyler Campbell. Several nieces & nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Monday February 17, 2020 at 3:00pm from the Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. David Tinsley & Rev. Stephen Soulen officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sharp Memorial U.M.C or St. Clare’s Episcopal Church in Carey’s memory.
