Mr. John Earl Gibson, age 92, of Blairsville, GA, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 13, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side following an extended illness. Mr. Gibson was born on Dec. 9, 1927 in Blairsville, GA., the son of the late Paul and Nellie Elvira Brown Gibson. He loved Racing, Fishing, Reading, Walking, Yard Work, and was an avid Golfer. Mr. Gibson was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by a son, Joey Leon Buck, and sister, Ethel Gibson. Mr. Gibson was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and he attended New Hope Fellowship Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Gibson of the home; children, Kathy McKinney of Jackson, SC, Susie and Russ McKinney of Jackson, SC, Sherry and Dan Brandt of Aiken, SC, Mary and Les Seaborn of Blairsville, GA; siblings, Harold and Odena Gibson, Buck Gibson, Betty and Ed Taylor, Lilly Vee and Randall Adams, and Aileen McCarther all of Blairsville, GA; sister-in-law, Gail and Don Hensley of Stow, OH; brother-in-law, Gary and Patty Handy of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Jason and Julie Metts, John Metts, Justin and Britni Mckinney, Cliff and Stephanie McKinney, Luke and Stacey McKinney, Josh and Jessica Young and Brian Young; 11 great grandchildren; many other extended family, neighbors and friends also survive.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday February 22, 2020 at 2:00 pm at New Hope Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Welch officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations may be made to New Hope Fellowship Baptist Church. The family will meet with friends following the services at the church.
