health department vaccination event
The mass vaccination event has been rescheduled for Friday, February 26 at the same time. Please know that this will not affect the vaccine effectiveness, and the second dose will be within the recommended window of vaccination.
Individuals need to show up at their appointment time and bring their vaccination card. Those on Medicare should bring their red, white & blue if they have one.

Medicare recipients need to bring their card to the vaccination event.

The original event was scheduled for February 19 but was canceled last minute after the Gainesville District 2 office relayed it didn’t have enough vaccine. On Monday, February 22, Gainesville issued a press release stating “some appointment changes necessary due to late shipments of Covid-19 vaccine.”
“The county was under the impression that these vaccines were being stored at the local health department, turns out they were not stored here,” Sole Commissioner Lamar Paris commented during the February commission meeting.
The event would have administered the second dose for the 1,015 people who received their first dose a month ago.
“Nothing we can do now but wait. It’s really frustrating for us who worked so hard have it ready and be ready to help the public,” Paris added.
DPH also cited the winter weather as the reason behind delayed shipments, but anyone registered to receive the vaccine will receive it. Once health departments can fulfill their first and second dose appointments, then they will begin scheduling new appointments.
Also on Monday, a mass vaccination center opened in Clarksville, Ga.
“These four sites are an important next step in our continued vaccination efforts to protect our most vulnerable and at-risk Georgians,” said Governor Kemp. “By strategically locating these sites near historically underserved communities, we will ensure more Georgians have access to the life-saving vaccine. These mass vaccination locations will be able to scale up quickly from the initial 22,000 doses per week capacity once the state is provided more supply from the federal government.”
Currently, only those in Phase 1A+ can sign up to receive the vaccine so those who are 65 and over, their caregivers, and first responders.
