PRESS RELEASE – 03-05-2022 – At approximately 10:35 am, Union County Fire Department Station 5 responded to a report of a person trapped in a pond and was drowning.

Firefighters and Rescue 5 arrived on scene to find a tractor that had turned over into a pond and had trapped the driver.

Quick thinking from neighbors and bystanders freed the trapped man by attaching a winch to the tractor and lifting it enough to free him.

Firefighters assisted and immediately began to assess and treat the man who had been under water for some time. An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene. The patient was awake and talking to firefighters by the time he was loaded into the helicopter.

It was a great job by bystanders, Union County E911 Dispatch and other responding units to include Sheriff’s Office, Union General Ambulance Service, and Erlanger medical helicopter.
