Elite Ladies! Lady Rebels and Lady Panthers Advance To The Elite 8

Featured Stories, Team FYN Sports

North Georgia is the premier place for soccer in the south. Both Fannin County and Union County’s women’s soccer teams are Elite 8 bound with easy victories in the Sweet 16. Could we see a Fannin County vs Union County State championship game?

Fannin-

Fannin County played host to Thomasville on Wednesday and was able to come away with a 4-1 victory over the Bulldogs. Senior Taylor Poland was able to find the back of the net twice in this sweet 16 matchup, and lead all scorers on the evening. Annabel Lillard and Hannah Sosebee contributed the other two goals for the Lady Rebels.

Fannin County will now host Pace Academy in their Elite 8 game on Monday the 25th. If the Lady Rebels are able to come away with a victory, they will be one win away from the state championship game.

Union-

The Lady Panthers knocked off the number 14th ranked team in the state in East Laurens by a score of 4-1. Their next task will be much harder in the round of the Elite 8 however, as they will face number 1 ranked Fitzgerald at home on Monday the 25th. Union will have home-field advantage in this match and they are currently playing their best ball as they have rattled off 10 straight wins, so we will see if the Panthers can ride their wave of momentum and pull off the upset.

Come out and show your support for these ladies next Monday! They deserve it, the Elite 8 is a major accomplishment, but they aren’t done yet!
