Union County property value reassessment

Announcements, Press Release

PRESS RELEASE – Union County has issued the following press release regarding your property value assessments.

Your reassessment notices of your property values will be mailed out tomorrow (Thursday, June 30th, 2022).

The appraisal company that the Union County Board of Assessors has utilized the past three years, (GMASS), has just completed their reassessments of your homes and property. As we all know, the value of homes and property continues to rise and the average increase for home values in Union County based on actual sales will average about 22% for 2022.

Our plan is to roll back our property tax mil rate. Our goal is for the majority of property owners to have little or no property tax increase.

Beginning tonight at midnight, the county property computer records will be adjusted, and www.qpublic.net/ga/union should have all new property values on the internet. The Tax Assessor’s office encourages everyone to look at your property assessment and if you have any concerns, please contact the Assessor’s office at (706) 439-6011. You are encouraged to file an appeal online, if you feel your property values are not correct. You would file at www.qpublic.net/ga/union where you can also see other similar property values in the county. You can still also file an appeal at the Tax Assessors office.

The State of Georgia requires property assessments (40% of retail value) to be between 38% and 42% to maximize public utility payments. The county Tax Assessors office has been working diligently for the past year to try to address all the 1300 appeals from last year.
