Both Union County Panthers Varsity basketball teams were crowned Battle of The States Champions in the 30th annual iteration of the tournament.

Houston Henry and Ariel McCarter were named tournament MVPs, while Nomi Nelson, Hope Tayler, Vince Marevka, and Hayden Hughes were named to the All-Tournament teams.

The boys’ team defeated Coosa and Rabun County before defeating Franklin 79-71 in the championship on Monday night.

The girls’ team also defeated Coosa and Rabun County on their way to the ship, where they defeated Polk County by a score of 56-48.
