Mrs. Gwen Nell Brown Odom,  age 72, of Blairsville passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday March 15, 2016 following an extended illness.

Mrs. Odom was born June 11, 1943, the daughter of the late John & Helen Brown of Blairsville, GA. Mrs. Odom was a member of New Union Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Mrs. Odom retired from thirty years with the Department of Family & Children Services where she had been employed. She enjoyed reading, cross word puzzles, but her favorite hobby was embroidering.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl Odom, son-in-law, Ed Rohrbaugh and a brother Jack Brown.

Surviving Mrs. Odom are son and daughter-in-law Steve & Jennifer Odom, of Blairsville, GA., daughter and her Fiancé Sharon Odom Rohr Baugh & Mike Donahue of Blairsville, GA., brother & sister-in-law Dale & Kathy Brown of Gainesville, GA., sister & brother-in-law Rachel & Charles Brackett of Blairsville, GA., brother & sister-in-law Chris & Ida Brown of Dahlonega, GA., three granddaughters, Billie, Alexandria and Samantha Odom all of Blairsville, GA. Many other relatives & friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm from the New Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Waymon Lovell and Rev. Harrison Bradley officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers: Jeff Odom, Greg Odom, Levi Kendrick, Jason Martin, Alan Hulsey and Curtis Brown. The following women will serve as honorary pallbearers for their former co-worker: Sandra Bristol-Brancel, Jerri Brown, Cheryl Cosner, Evelyn Deyton, Charlene Grizzle, Mary Lynn Kimsey, Linda McAfee, Darlene McNabb, Dianne Murphy and Ella Tiburski.

Interment will follow in the Confidence Methodist Church Cemetery.
