James Boyd Nichols

Mr. James Boyd Nichols passed away at the age of 82 on Sunday, November 25 where he resided in Murphy, NC. He was born on November 2, 1936 in Henderson, KY to the late James E. Nichols, Jr. and Evelyn Boyd Nichols. He attended Decatur High School in Decatur, Ga where he enjoyed playing football and received a full scholarship to play football at Presbyterian College in SC. He also attended the Atlanta Art Institute to pursue his love of art and develop his natural talents. James had a long career with General Motors where he traveled extensively and later in life became an Antique Dealer who obtained his appraisal license. He was a kid at heart that treasured antique toys.
Surviving Mr. Nichols are daughters, Jeanette Norton, Kelley Sevin, Michelle Rock and Colleen Ferrer.
As well as son-in laws, Samuel Norton, Kenneth Rock and Sammy Ferrer.
The surviving grandchildren are, Rachelle Ellis, Shannon Oates, Philip Sevin, Preston Jacob, Nicholas Rock, Patrick Fitzgerald, Kenna Rock and Cyleigh Ferrer.
Great grandchildren are Sage Rogers, Dylan Sevin, James Oates III, Matthew Oates, Ariella Ellis, Analise Ellis, Zoe Jacob, Lydia Jacob, Parker Sevin, Benjamin Ellis and Zane Jacob.

Mr. James Douglas Souther age 81 of Blairsville passed away on Wednesday November 28, 2018 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Souther was born on September 2, 1937 in Union County, the son of the late Gordon Souther and the late Thelma Ensley Souther. He was a lifelong resident of Union County and was a veteran of the US Air Force. James was a loving husband, brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents and also a sister, Agnus (Ann) Fussell. James was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Souther are his loving wife and best friend for 51 years, Claudine Butts Souther of Blairsville, two sisters, Evelyn Turner of Blairsville, Betty Duggan of Ringgold GA, cousins, Donald Duggan, Jack Duggan and Mona Trotter, nieces, Kathy Prince, Sandy Page and Kelley Davis, nephew, Jack Turner, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday November 30, 2018 at 1:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Jerry Karnes and Rev Steve Roten officiating. Special music will be presented by Junior Bridges. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Danny Owenby Richard Haigler, Jerry Hemphill, Danny Stephens and Ronnie Coker. Interment will follow in the Meadow View, Cemetery with the North GA Honor Guard conducting Military Honors. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11-1:00 pm.

James Homer Thomasson: Obituary
Obituaries December 17, 2018Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory announces Funeral Services for Mr. James Homer Thomasson, Husband, Father, and Grandfather who passed away on Monday, December 10th, 2018, at the age of 84. He was born on August 1, 1934, in Murphy, North Carolina. The son of the late James Garlin Thomasson and Flora Stephens Thomasson.
Homer joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) June 1, 1953, as a staff member assigned to the Personnel Section, in Washington, D.C. He graduated from John Marshall University and John Marshall Law School in 1962, with a degree in Law and was appointed to the FBI Academy in 1962. After completing the FBI Academy, he was assigned as an FBI Special Agent, in Springfield, IL; Danville, IL; Pittsburgh, PA; and as Senior Agent-in-Charge of the Huntington, WV office. He was transferred to his Office of Preference, Atlanta, GA, in 1976. Homer retired as Senior Resident Agent-in-Charge of the Gainesville, GA office in 1985.
After retirement from the FBI, he was employed as Officer of Credit Card Investigations for the National Bank of Georgia; subsequent employment by the Georgia Insurance Commissioners Office, where he assisted in establishing their Insurance Arson Fraud Investigations Division. He was later appointed Vice President, Wachovia Credit Card Investigation Division, Wachovia Bank, Atlanta, GA. After retirement from Wachovia, Homer moved back to his home town, Blairsville, where he was employed as Investigator for the District Attorney’s Office.
Homer was a member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, Atlanta Chapter President in 1992. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Blairsville, where he served as Deacon and various Church committees.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn Jenkins Thomasson. Daughter, Cindy & her husband, Robert Shearin; granddaughter, Nicole. Daughter, Pamela & her husband, Hollis Townsend; grandsons, James and Joseph. Sister, Jo Jenkins, wife of the late Ed Jenkins; brother-in-law, Charles Jenkins & wife, Bonnie; brother-in-law, Tom Battle, husband of the late Ella Jenkins Battle; brother-in-law, Ken Jenkins; and sister-in-law, Patti Jenkins Chambers & husband, Bobby; as well as, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Thursday, December 13th, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Blairsville, with Dr. Fred Lodge, Dr. James Butts, Rev. Rick Jenkins, David Riser, Rev. Dick Stillwell and Stan Gunter speaking. Minister Ed Lawrie and Mrs. Jackie Hill will be in charge of the music. The body will lie instate at the church starting at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday morning. The following gentlemen have been requested to serve as pallbearers: Stan Gunter, Jeff Langley, Jim Colwell, Bruce Alexander, Rob Chambers, and James Farris. Asked to serve as honorary escort is Joseph Farris, Hollis Townsend, and Robert Shearin. Graveside Masonic Rites will be conducted by Allegheny Masonic Lodge. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, and visitation will take place at Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

James Garth Moose: Obituary

Mr. James Garth Moose age 56 of Gainesville, GA. formerly of Suches passed away peacefully on Friday October 12, 2018 in Wrightsville, GA following an extended illness. Mr. Moose was born on May 23, 1962 in Union County, the son of the late Emory Moose and the late Barbara Searcy Moose. He lived most of his life in Suches and was a 1981 Graduate of Woody Gap School. Garth loved hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with his grandchildren, He was a loving father, brother and grandfather. Garth was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Suches.
Surviving Garth are two sons and one daughter in law, Orrin and Mayra Moose of Gainesville, Dalton Moose of Flat Rock, AL., two daughters and sons in law, BreAnna and Matt Reddit, Amber and Brian Fields all of St. Cloud, FL., two brothers, Dwayne and Stephen Moose both of Suches, five grandchildren, Culen, Leyna, Emma, Ely and Axel, several cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday October 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Suches. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jeff Hamlin, Bruce Fallow, Stephen Moose, Trevor Beavers, Bobby Moose and Ben Barnes. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11-1:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Zion Church Cemetery.

Mr. Richard James Schuster age 65 of Scenic Mtn. Park Rd. Blairsville passed away at his home on Tuesday January 8, 2019 following an extended illness. Mr. Schuster was born on October 5, 1953 in Crystobal Panama, the son of the late William John Schuster and the late Helen Joyce Christianson Schuster. Richard was a veteran of the US Coast Guard. He had made his home in Blairsville for the past twenty two years. He enjoyed being outdoors and being around his family and many friends.
Surviving Mr. Schuster are one brother, Gordon Schuster of Selma, OR., one niece, Megan Schuster, two great nieces, Olivia Schuster and Macy Schuster all of Medford, OR., many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to a favorite charity of your choice in Richard’s memory.
