Local 9th Grader Organizes Donation Drive for Castoff Pet Rescue
Leila Livingston Leads Effort to Help Animals in Need

Blairsville, GA — [October 23, 2025] — Castoff Pet Rescue is receiving a much-needed boost thanks to a community donation drive led by 9th grade homeschool student, Leila Livingston. Inspired by her love for animals and a desire to make a difference, Leila organized the drive to collect supplies and raise awareness for the no-kill rescue shelter.

The donation drive, which runs November 3rd-17th, is accepting pet food, blankets, toys, cleaning supplies, and monetary donations. All proceeds and collected items will go directly to Castoff Pet Rescue, a local nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and neglected animals in Union County and surrounding areas.

“I’ve always loved animals, and when I learned how much Castoff Pet Rescue does with so little, I knew I wanted to help,”said Leila Livingston. “Even a small donation can make a big difference for these animals.”

Leila has partnered with several local businesses and community members to set up drop-off locations across town, including Grandaddy Mimms Distilling Company, Ingles, Tractor Supply, The Farmers Mercantile, Union County Public Library, Castoff Thrift Store and Castoff Pet Rescue. The drive is also raising funds online via GoFundMe https://gofund.me/46d12e304. Donations can also be made via Venmo @castoffpetrescue

Castoff Pet Rescue staff expressed their gratitude for Leila’s initiative. “We’re incredibly touched by Leila’s compassion and leadership,” said a spokesperson for the organization. “Community efforts like this help us continue our mission and save more lives.”
