Mr. Charlie Wayne Free age 78 of  Blairsville passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 11, 2017 in the Gilmer Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Free was born on Jan. 29, 1939 in Fannin County, the son of the late Homer Free and the late Mary Bearden Free. He was a lifelong resident of Union County. Charlie enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Free and two sisters, Eunice Weaver and Bonnie Aaron. Mr. Free was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Free are his loving wife and best friend of sixty years, Barbara Everett Free of Blairsville, three daughters and two sons in law, Debra and Mark Ralston, Darlene Free, Diane and Rev. Tommy Jones all of Blairsville, two sisters, Gladys Long of Cherry Log, GA., Hazel Neal of Blue Ridge, one brother, Blaine Free of Ellijay, five grandchildren, April Collins, James Duncan, Leanne Stover, Curtis Mason and Candice Lamberth, four great grandchildren, Ty Collins, Cooper Stover, Lakelen and Reagan Lamberth, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday July 14, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Special music will be presented by Evan Hughes. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, James Duncan, Ty Collins, Cooper Stover, Bo Stover, Eric Collins, Raymond Mason and Bryan Mason. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Leanne Stover, April Collins and Candice Lamberth. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-9:00 pm. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
