Gertrude “Trudy” Fearing White, 95 formerly of the 1200 block of Riverside Avenue, Elizabeth City, NC died Friday, May 17, 2019 in Blairsville, GA. She was born March 8, 1923 in Elizabeth City to the late Enoch Pratt Fearing and Gertrude Evans Fearing and was the widow of Beverly Wright White. She was a retired secretary for the Elizabeth City Pasquotank Schools, a member of Christ Episcopal Church, The Wareham Historical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, US Heritage Society, Colonial Dames of 17th Century, Mayflower society, and Who’s Who in NC.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly W. Peterson (Allen) of Mineral Bluff, GA, and Betty W. Quinn {Terry) of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren, Andrew Wright Schlueter, John Michael Schlueter, Cameron Quinn, and Ramsay Quinn; and two great grandchildren, Caroline Wright Schlueter and Chad Thompson Schlueter. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Raymond “Boopie” Fearing and Fred Fearing.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church with Father Jim McGee officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following in the service in parish hall. Burial will be in the Episcopal Cemetery. Barbara Barnes Morris, age 69 of Blairsville crossed over to meet her Savior on Thursday, May 2, 2019, following a brief illness. Barbara was an active member of First Baptist Church. She gave many hours working along side of her beloved Beacon Team and Disaster Relief friends. Barbara also volunteered at the Copper Basin Crisis Center.
She leaves behind one daughter Angela Morris and an amazing legacy of 9 living grandchildren:Mary and husband Jeremiah Barnard of Grape Creek, NC, Elijah Morris and partner Larissa of Peachtree, NC, Elisheba Morris of Hayesville, NC, Shalom Morris of Blairsville, Ga, Gabriel Morris of Blairsville, GA, Christianna Morris of Blairsville, Micheal Morris of Blairsville, Isaac Morris of Blairsville and Angelica Morris of Blairsville. She also leaves behind her 5 beloved great grandchildren Hyleah, Erma, and Gideon Morris and Saige and Finnley Barnard.
Barbara spoke often of her Savior and His love and forgiveness for her. She also lived her last years as a walking talking example of LOVING BIG. She will be missed by many but never forgotten.
Memorial Services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019 from the Rock Chapel of First Baptist Church of Blairsville.

Mrs. Brenda Carolyn Patterson age 72 of Blue Ridge Hwy Blairsville passed away peacefully on Sunday February 17, 2019 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Patterson was born on August 26, 1946 in Sardis, AL., the daughter of the late Ander Eugene Burch and the late Maybell Beasley Burch. Brenda was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. One of the joys of her life were her two puppies, Roxie and Bentley which she tought of as her children. Brenda was of the Church of Christ faith.
Surviving Brenda are her loving husband, James Patterson of Blairsville, three daughters, Sondra Tomlinson and Elita Tomlinson both of Blairsville, Karen Preast of Lawrenceburg, TN., one sister, Janice Ford of Haines City, FL., nieces and nephews, Kris Alexander of Panama City, FL., Shawna Davis of Davenport, FL., Johnny Hunt of Winter Haven, FL, several great nieces, nephews, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 19, 2019 at 4:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Minister Terry Stuart officiating. Brenda’s favorite hymns will be presented at the service. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4:00 pm.

Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Marie Macey age 67 of Squirrel Hunting Rd. Morganton passed away following a brief illness on Wednesday February 6, 2019 in the Erlanger Medical Center. Mrs. Macey was born on October 5, 1951 in Holden, MA., the daughter of the late James Hadley and the late Helen Premo Hadley. Pat had worked for Lucent Technologies until her retirement then became a Real Estate Agent for many years and at the time of her death was employed with Remax Town and Country Realty in Blairsville. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and knitting. She was a very outgoing person who loved people. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Mr. Lyndon Ford Dyer age 82 of Blueberry Lane Blairsville passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday Janauary 24, 2019 following an extended illness. Mr. Dyer was born on May 29, 1936 in Blairsville, GA., the son of the late Edward Dyer and the late Mildred Cowhick Dyer. Mr. Dyer retired from Cadillac Motors after many years of service. He was a very avid gardener and planted all types of trees. He also enjoyed hunting. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Dyer was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Dyer are his loving wife and best friend of fifty nine years, Caroline M. Dyer of Blairsville, two sons and one daughter in law, Joseph and Betty Dyer of Port Orange, FL., Terrence Dyer of Taylor, MI., two daughters, Theresa Dyer of South Dakota and Dena Dyer of Taylor, MI., one brother, Arlen Dyer of Blairsville, one sister and brother in law, Vivian and Jerry Reid of Blairsville, eight grandchildren, Donald Dyer, Douglas Dyer, Diane Dyer, Aaron McNamara, Adam McNamara, Alex McNamara, Gillian Dyer and Ciera Mack, many nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Tom passed away peacefully at Union County Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. Tom was born on July 1, 1929 to the late Theodore Thomas and Dorothy Stewart Sweet in Memphis, Tennessee.
After attending Miami High School, he attended the University of Florida. Tom was a member of Alpha Tau Omega men’s fraternity at the University of Florida. In between entering the university and graduating he served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1956.
Tom was employed by the Citizens and Southern National Bank, the First National Bank of Atlanta, the First National Bank of Gainesville and United Community Bank as a Trust Officer. He was a Charter Life Underwriter as well as a Chartered Financial Consultant. He served as agent with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company and the Guardian Mutual Life Insurance Company.
Tom & his wife Lois volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels to the residents of Brannon Lodge. They also enjoyed volunteering once a week at the First United Methodist Church of Union County. Tom enjoyed playing bridge & caning chairs and was a Rotarian in Gainesville & Blairsville Georgia.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lois Sweet; his sister & brother in law Susan & Andrew Musante. He is survived by his four children & 3 step children – Barbara Ann Sweet, Thomas(Tommy) William Sweet, Jr(wife Yazmin); David Stewart Sweet(wife Anita); and Susan(Susie) Elizabeth Sweet(husband Charles Freeland); Grandsons Jayson Thomas Sweet; Andrew David Sweet; granddaughter Florencia Sweet. Nieces Betsy Gormsen(husband Gorm); Chris Laister(husband Rich); Maria Conte(husband Joe). Step children from Lois’ family are Barbara Holland (husband Cohen), Steven A. Smith (wife Lyn), and Robert C. Smith (wife Sandra). Through Lois, Tom had 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at First Methodist Church of Union County, Ga. on Saturday January 26, 2019 at 3:00 PM
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to the Union County Senior Center where Tom and Lois spent countless hours volunteering at 95 Senior Center Drive, Blairsville, 30512.

Mr. Richard James Schuster age 65 of Scenic Mtn. Park Rd. Blairsville passed away at his home on Tuesday January 8, 2019 following an extended illness. Mr. Schuster was born on October 5, 1953 in Crystobal Panama, the son of the late William John Schuster and the late Helen Joyce Christianson Schuster. Richard was a veteran of the US Coast Guard. He had made his home in Blairsville for the past twenty two years. He enjoyed being outdoors and being around his family and many friends.
Surviving Mr. Schuster are one brother, Gordon Schuster of Selma, OR., one niece, Megan Schuster, two great nieces, Olivia Schuster and Macy Schuster all of Medford, OR., many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. H.A. Rogers Jr age 93 of Blairsville, GA passed away peacefully in the Union County Nursing Home on Monday, January 7, 2019 following an extended illness. Mr. Rogers was born on November 22, 1925 in Blue Ridge, GA to the late Holland Avery Rogers & Cora Ann Rhodes. He was a lifelong resident of Union County. Mr. Rogers enjoyed fox hunting, dirt track racing, and walking Davenport Mountain. Mr. Rogers loved spending time with all of his grandchildren and children as well. Preceding H.A. in death is his loving wife; Addie Kate Davenport of 2000, four sisters; Marie, Grace, Opal, and Esther, five brothers; J.S Silvey, Paxton, Erith, Luther, and Arlis, a daughter; Jolene Bright, and a son; Darrell Rogers. H.A. was a member of Liberty Hill Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr. Rogers is his three children; Linda Holbrook, Farrell Rogers, and Kathy Burrell all of Blairsville, one sister; Gladys Stotts of Galesburg, IL., son in law, Bobby Bright of Blairsville, grandchildren; Bobby Joe & Melinda Bright, Penny & Jeff Tanner, Kim & Bryan Nix, Kevin Rogers, and Dustin Rogers, great grandchildren; Josh, Kolbe, Madeline, Karis, Megan, and Caiden, and one great-great grandchild; Avery.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 1pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Handy & Rev. Scotty Graves officiating. Special music will be presented by Roy & Doris Hefner. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Bobby Joe Bright, Dustin Rogers, Bobby Thomas, Vick Payne, Bryan Nix, and Tim Garrett. These gentlemen will also serve as honorary pallbearers; Randall Henderson, Randall Twiggs, D.W. Mullinax, and Wayne Queen. Interment will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Renea Ann Greiner age 55 of Jones Creek Rd. Blairsville passed away on Wednesday December 19, 2018 in Union County from injuries sustained in an airplane accident. Mrs. Greiner was born on November 3, 1963 in Salem, OH., the daughter of Kathleen Confoey Yeagley and the late Alden George Yeagley. At the time of her death she was employed at River Stone in Blue Ridge as a nurse’s assistant. Renea always strived to please everyone she knew, and made the room brighter when she was entertaining her friends. She loved all kinds of animals and riding motorcycles. She was a loving and caring wife, daughter, sister and aunt. Renea was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving Renea are her loving husband and best friend, Richard Greiner of Blairsville, her mother, Kathleen Yeagley of Blairsville, one sister, Cynthia Petrilla of Niles, OH., one brother and sister in law, James and Elizabeth Skinner of MO., nieces and nephews, Valerie, Jo Sue, Johnny, Bryan and James Jr., a host of her work family, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 26, 2018 at 6:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel. Obituaries December 17, 2018Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces memorial services for Mr. Michael John Grassi, age 75, of Young Harris, Georgia, who passed away on Monday, December 10th, 2018, at his home.
Mr. Grassi was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and had made Young Harris his home for the past 20 years. He was known in the community for selling Christmas trees. Mr. Grassi is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Janet, of Young Harris; daughter, Amanda Lester, also of Young Harris; and daughters Heather O’Donnel and Michelle Feinstein, both of New Jersey. brother, Jonnathan Grassi, of Atlanta; nine grandchildren also share in the legacy of Michael John Grassi.
Memorial services have been scheduled for Saturday, December 15th, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, with Rev. Darrell Shook officiating. The family will meet with friends for one hour before the memorial service, starting at 12 noon.

Buddy was born July 5th 1929 in Tampa, FL and passed peacefully in his sleep at home with his wife Barbara on Saturday December 8th, 2018 in Blairsville, GA. He is survived by wife Barbara and preceded in death by his former wife, Lee Kruse. Loving father of Kathie, Jan, Hal, Kenny and Mary. Stepfather of Scott, Barry and Tom Armstrong. Grandfather of Kevin, Max, Eden, Gunnar, Thomas, Joseph, Alex, Ian, Nate, Robert and Jamie.
Buddys non-stop wit and wise cracks will be greatly missed. He was a navy veteran and graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Pharmacy. He was a pharmacist by trade, but a business entrepenure at heart. He owned several businesses over his lifetime in the Clearwater, FL area including: neighborhood pharmacies, teen night clubs, promotion company, pool company, and a small cafe. Buddy and wife Barbara retired many years ago in the mountains of Blairsville, GA. Buddy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater and he and Barbara attended Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Blairsville.
