Edith Jacobs Davis, 92, formerly of Greenville, SC and Charlotte, NC, died Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at Brasstown Manor in Hiawassee, GA. Born September 1, 1926, in Elm City, NC, she was the daughter of the late James Ansel Jacobs and Mildred Oxendine Jacobs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Romeo Davis. She retired from Connecticut General Life Insurance Company. Edith was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Greenville, SC.
Survivors include her sons, Lindsey Davis (Susan) of Blairsville, GA and Marc Davis (Sandy) of Canton, GA; four grandchildren, Nicole Davis Sheffield (Max) of Cumming, GA, Justin Davis (Meredith) of Niceville, FL, Christian Davis (Sara) of Atlanta, GA, and Rachel Davis of Woodstock, GA; four great-grandchildren, Kaylin and Jameson Sheffield of Cumming, GA, and Amelia and Nora Davis of Niceville, FL; sister and brothers, Ellen Joyce Jacobs Hunt, James “Jim” Jacobs (Brenda) and Ronald “Ron” Jacobs (Cecy), all of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Audrey Jacobs Snipes.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 2, 2019, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by The Rev. Mike Hammett.

Mrs. Cynthia Golsby Guffey age 67 of East Lake View Drive Hayesville passed away peacefully on Monday January 21, 2019 in the Chatuge Regional Hospital following an brief illness. Mrs. Guffey was born on August 23, 1951 in Winnsboro, LA., the daughter of the late Leslie Eli Golsby and the late Dorothy Marion Parker Golsby.Cynthia’s passion was sewing and designing. She was an artist with a piece of fabric. She was a loving sister and aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Guffey in 2014, her parents and also a brother Robert Harold Golsby. Cynthia was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Hayesville.
Surviving Mrs. Guffey are two sisters and one brother in law, Harriet Trussell of Shreveport, LA., Connie and Laney Pankey of Delhi, LA., nieces, Lanya Bernard, Heather Golsby, nephews, William (Anita) Pankey, Kevin Pankey, Christopher (Susan) Knight, Caleb Trussell, a host of her church family, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday January 25, 2019 at 11:00 am from the New Life Baptist Church in Hayesville with Rev. Greg Carroll officiating. Special music will be presented by Chanda Wadsworth and Jackie Reed . The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Wendall Farmer, Chandler Farmer, Nash Farmer, Jake Carroll, Jimmy O’Dell and Richard Walker . Interment will follow in the Laurel Hill Memory Gardens Cemetery where she will rest next to her beloved husband, Wayne. The family will meet with friends at the New Life Baptist Church on Friday from 10-11:00 am.

George Samuel Rampley Jr. age 50 of Morganton, GA passed away peacefully at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Rampley was born on December 5, 1968 in Canton, GA to the late George Samuel Rampley Sr. & Clova Lee Carder. Mr. Rampley was a manager at his local Wal-Mart.
Surviving Mr. Rampley is his mother, Clova Lee Rampley of Morganton, GA., niece; Sabrina & Scott Raines of Ellijay, GA., nephew; Jason & Lorenza George of Toccoa, GA., and grand-niece; Samantha Raines of Ellijay, GA.

Mrs. Ruth Elaine Stefko, age 76, of Harlon Mason Drive, Blairsville passed away peacefully at her home on Friday January 18, 2019 following an extended illness. Mrs. Stefko was born on July 20, 1942 in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of the late Victor Dale Loertscher and the late Nellie Gene Cooper Loertscher. She was a Registered Nurse for many years before her retirement. Ruth loved people and was always selfless and devoted to her patients, family, and to her Lord. She will always be remembered as a prayer warrior. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Alexander John Stefko and a son Michael Alexander Stefko. Ruth was actively involved in Stephen Ministries. Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blairsville.
Surviving Mrs. Stefko are two daughters, one son, and one son-in-law: Dawn and Dempsy Chappell of Stone Mtn, Georgia, Robin Reynolds of Libertyville, Illinois, and Mark Stefko of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. She is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Sonny Knapp, one brother and sister-in-law, David and Susan Loertscher all of Toledo, Ohio, five grandchildren, Christopher and Maura (wife) Stefko, Melissa Stefko, Drew and Jessie (wife) Chappell, Tyler Holcomb, Nicholas Vuich, two great-grandchildren, Waylon and Wesley Chappell, several nieces, nephews, a host of her church family, and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Mark Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery where she will rest next to her late beloved husband, Alexander John Stefko. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00pm-8:00 pm.

Mr. Lawrence “Larry” Edward Renaud age 54 of Crystal Mtn. Lane Morganton passed away peacefully on Wednesday Jan. 9, 2019 at his home following a brief illness. Larry was born on May 22, 1964 in Ontario Canada, the son of the late Robert Michael Renaud and the late Wanda Sue Owens Renaud. His favorite past time was talking on his CB radio. He was a loving father, brother and grandfather. Larry was a member of the Jehovah Witness Church.
Surviving Mr. Renaud are one daughter, Jennifer Rice of Morganton, one brother, William “Billy Joe” Renaud of Blairsville, three sisters, Kimmie Kitchens of Jasper, Cheryl Mote of Adairsville, Misty Renaud of Blairsville, three grandchildren, Ansley, Amber and Amy Mashburn, several nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Wilma Irene Kemp Beck formerly of LaGrange, GA. died on January 5, 2019 at the Union General Hospital in Blairsville, GA. following an recent illness.
Wilma was born on December 16, 1919 in Carroll County, GA. to the late H.H. and Ada Eugenia (Gena) Lovvorn Kemp. She was married to the late Richard D. Beck, Sr. and was long time member of Cedarcrest Community Church in LaGrange, GA.
Mrs. Beck is survived by her son, Doug Beck (Kathy) of Blue Ridge, GA., grandson, Joel Beck (Jenny) and great- grandchildren, Zack and Anna all of Lawrenceville, GA; grandson, Kyle Ray (Melissa) and great grandchildren, Lauren, Houston and Keaton of Charlotte, NC., brother, H.J. Kemp of Ranburne, AL and other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
There will be a graveside service to be held on Tuesday January 8, 2019 at 1:00 pm from the Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, GA. In lieu of flowers if you wish, donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Wilma Beck to Cedarcrest Community Church, 2380 Roanoke Rd. LaGrange, GA. 30240. Mrs. JoAnne Marie Voss age 82 of Blairsville passed away peacefully at her home on Friday December 28, 2018.Mrs. Voss had lived in this area since 2003 having moved here from Port Charlotte Fl. JoAnne was of the Lutheran faith and she loved animals and collecting many different things.
Surviving Mrs. Voss are a son and daughter Leanne Voss of Port Charlotte, Fl. Robert Voss of Blairsville Ga. one daughter in law Julie Voss of Kenosha, WI., seven grandchildren Shane, Matt, Brandon, Alex, Nick, Zach, and Riley.

Mr. Eason was born on March 15, 1954 in Bartow, FL., the son of the Cecil C. Eason and Sylvia Johnston Eason. Raymond loved collecting knives. He was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle. Mr. Eason was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Grapell Rich age 81 of Rich Farm Road, Blairsville passed away on Friday December 21, 2018 with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Rich was born in Union County on December,1 5, 1937 to the late Ed and Emma Harkins Payne. Mrs. Rich was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Eugene Rich, two sons, Anthony Rich & Justin Larue Rich, and a great grand-daughter, Emma Rich. Mrs. Rich was a resident of Blairsville her entire life and she was of the Baptist faith. She was also an avid bowler & loved playing cards.
Surviving Mrs. Rich are three children, Wanda & Ernie Sistrunk, of Lafayette, LA., Eddie & Marie Rich of Blairsville, GA., and Tim & Rebecca Rich of Gainesville, GA. eleven grandchildren & fourteen great-grandchildren also survive.

Mr. George Rosco Henderson age 89 of Henderson Rd. Young Harris passed away peacefully on Monday December 17, 2018 in the Union County Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness. Mr. Henderson was born on May 14, 1929 in Marietta, GA., the son of the late Howard Henderson and the late Lorey Lee Henderson. George was a lifelong resident of Towns and Union Counties. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Brown Henderson in 1996, five brothers, Bass, Birl, Bob, Jim and Lloyd Henderson, and a son, George Steven Henderson. Mr. Henderson was a member and served as Deacon for over ten years at Many Forks Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Henderson are two daughters and sons in law, Loretta and Dink Garrett of Blairsville, Linda and Barry Young of Blairsville, one son and daughter in law, Greg and Ginny Henderson of Cumming, GA., six grandchildren, Cindy Young (John Bumgarner), Cody Garrett, Daniel and Bridgette Young, Katie Young, Blake Henderson and Caleb Henderson, many nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Anita P. Bryson age 72 of Bells Gap Rd. Hiawassee passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday December 11, 2018 following an extended illness. Anita was born on November 24, 1946 in Blairsville, GA., the daughter of the late James Earl Patterson and the late Dena Juanita King Patterson. She was a lifelong resident of Towns and Union Counties. Anita loved painting, crafting, baking and cooking for her friends and family. She loved spending time with those she loved. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant Wayne Bryson, a daughter, Autumn Estee Bryson, a sister, Catherine Mosley, brother, Jimmy Patterson. Mrs. Bryson was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Bryson are one daughter, Dena Robin Bryson of Hiawassee, four sisters and three brothers in law, Phyllis and Guy Wayne Shook of Blairsville, Barbara Moss of Blairsville, Pat and Bud Ledbetter of Blairsville, Martha and Wayne Matheson of Hayesville, brother and sister in law, Gerald and Beth Patterson, brother in law Stanley and Peggy Bryson, sister in law Regina Lee, two grandchildren, Harley Beasley and Teria Beasley, one great grandchild, Tatum, her caregivers, Robin and Stephanie, several nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Wayne Matheson and Gerald Patterson officiating. Special music will be presented by Martha Davenport, Daniel Moss, Gerald and Beth Patterson. Grumpy enjoyed working on race cars, bowling, singing and making music. Mr. Roberson was of the Baptist Faith. He was a lifelong resident of Union County and was a veteran of the US Air Force. James was a loving husband, brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents and also a sister, Agnus (Ann) Fussell. James was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Souther are his loving wife and best friend for 51 years, Claudine Butts Souther of Blairsville, two sisters, Evelyn Turner of Blairsville, Betty Duggan of Ringgold GA, cousins, Donald Duggan, Jack Duggan and Mona Trotter, nieces, Kathy Prince, Sandy Page and Kelley Davis, nephew, Jack Turner, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday November 30, 2018 at 1:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Jerry Karnes and Rev Steve Roten officiating. Mrs. Lavada Louise Cheek age 62 of Corn Flower Rd. Blairsville passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Tuesday November 20, 2018 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Cheek was born on August 21, 1956 in Union County, the daughter of the late C.A. Holbrooks and the late Bertha Duckworth Holbrooks. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Lavada loved Gospel singing (She sang at many churches and for funerals), most of all she loved telling everyone that she met about Jesus, witnessing to them and the love that he had for them. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and also two brothers, Calvin Holbrooks and Roy Edward Holbrooks and three sisters, Rita Faye Kelley, Eva Nell Smith and Barbara Ellen Holbrooks. Lavada was a member of the Day of Grace Baptist Church.
Surviving Lavada are her loving husband and best friend, Herman Cheek of Blairsville, five daughters, Amber Hernandez of Norcross, Tabitha Pacheco of Pasco, FL., Brittany Hunter, Jennifer Cascarano, Jamie George all of Blairsville, one son, Jonathan Hunter of Blairsville, three stepsons, Kevin Cheek of Blairsville, James and Gary Cheek of Hiram, GA., two brothers and one sister in law, Quinton and Wanda Holbrooks , Ted Holbrooks all of Blairsville, three sisters and two brothers in law, Phyllis and Melvin Fuller of Lawrenceville, Leona Hunter, Joyce and Herbert Teague all of Blairsville, seventeen grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Carr was born on Feb. 12, 1943 in Bangor, ME., the daughter of the late Edward Michael MacDonald and the late Yvonne Elizabeth Michaud MacDonald. Mrs. Carr loved quilting, cooking, Southern Gospel music, and family. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Carr in 2011. Mrs. Carr was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Carr are one son and daughter in law, Mark and Micki Carr of Blairsville, one daughter and son in law, Debbie- Jo and Keith Barley of Pace, FL., two brothers and sisters in law, Neil and Jeanne MacDonald of Hermon, ME., Mike and Donna MacDonald of Newburgh, ME., one sister and brother in law, Ann-Marie and Richard Madore of Hampden, ME., four grandchildren, Michael Carr, James Oliver, Mandi Zeger and Eric Oliver, five great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 24, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. George Cline officiating, eulogy by granddaughter Mandi Zeger. Special music will be presented by Mark Carr and Kaley Raper. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Michael Carr, Richard Madore, Neil MacDonald, Mike MacDonald, James Oliver and Jesse Zeger. Interment will follow in the church cemetery where she will rest next to her beloved husband Wendell. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Music Ministry or to Georgia Mountain Hospice in Mrs. Carr’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the Antioch Baptist Church on Saturday Nov. 24, 2018 from 2:00-3:00 pm.
