Mrs. Julia Elizabeth Berger age 81 of Low Gap Rd. Blairsville passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 5, 2016 in the Piedmont Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Berger was born on Sept. 29, 1934 in Mineola, NY., the daughter of the late John Plichta and the late Rose Drgon Plichta. Julia loved music her church and loved the Lord. She had retired from the Broward County Fl. School system with over thirty years of service and when she moved to Georgia she was employed at the Young Harris College for over ten years. She always loved her students. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Joseph Berger in 1993 and by a daughter, Julia Lee Berger in 2015. Mrs. Berger was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Surviving Mrs. Berger are her children, Helen and Richard Mooney of CA., Ed and Sandy Berger of Charleston, SC., Rob and Paula Berger, Beth Berger and Josh Berger all of Blairsville, two sisters, Helen and Wallace Carey of Camden, NJ., Kathryn Weiss of Green Lawn, NY., six grandchildren, Rose, Patrick, Michael, Susan, Sabrina and Eric, three great grandchildren, Keith, Isaiah and Samantha, many other relatives and friends also survive. A Funeral Mass with be held at a later date from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Juan Areiza and Father Richard Wise officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church in Mrs. Berger’s memory.
