Halloween trick-or-treat event at Meeks Park

Halloween trick-or-treat

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga – The spirit of Halloween remains strong in Union County with the Chamber of Commerce stepping up to host a trick-or-treat event for the spooky holiday.

Previously, Blairsville announced that Halloween on the Square was canceled for 2021 because of COVID-19.

Union County Chamber of Commerce announced a Halloween event would take place in Meeks Park on Sunday, October 31 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“We know everyone will miss the Hometown Halloween on the Square this year but hope that the wide-open spaces of Meeks Park will be a safe alternative until we can get back on the Square next year,” read the Chamber’s online statement.

Halloween at Meeks Park will be socially distanced. The Chamber’s encouraging businesses and non-profits to set up tables and hand out candy. If a business can’t attend, then it can make a candy donation to ensure everyone gets their fill of the sweet stuff. Money donations are also being accepted.

Costume contests by age group will also be held at the event. Some of the categories will include cutest and scariest costumes.

More information about the event will be released closer to the date.

Nottely Marina Trick-or-Treat

Lake Nottely Marina’s bringing thrills to trick-or-treaters again this year. The event will begin on Friday, October 29, and lasts through Sunday, October 31. The marina is asking that trick-or-treaters only attend one night of festivities to make sure there’s enough candy for everyone.

Parents and children are encouraged to come in costume. All children must have an adult accompanying them on the property. The trick-or-treat area and parking are one way in and out.

The marina encourages everyone to be respectful and watchful of children, especially in the parking lot.

They’re currently accepting candy donations from the public. Any businesses interested in participating should contact Lake Nottely Marina.

Scarecrowville is still coming to downtown Blairsville, so everyone make sure to check out their favorites.
