Blairsville, Georgia- The Union County Lady Panthers basketball team hosted the Commerce Tigers in a non region matchup.

First Quarter

The Lady Panthers got on the board first as the Panthers pushed the ball up the court quickly. After rebounding a miss, the Tigers tied the game at 2. Following back to back turnovers by the Panthers, the Tigers took a 6-2 lead and the Panthers called timeout. After another Panther turnover, the Tigers made a 3 to extend their lead to 9-2. Sofia McNabb ended the Tigers scoring run with a made 3 to make the score 9-5. Ariel McCarter scored to cut the deficit to 9-7 but the Tigers responded to extend their lead back to 4, 11-7. Lara Turner scored to make the score 11-9. Turner stole the ball and threw the ball down the court as McNabb scored to tie the game at 11. Following a missed shot by the Tigers, McCarter took the ball all the way to the basket and scored to give the Panthers a 13-11 lead. Following a foul, the Tigers made 1/2 free throws to make the score 13-12. After the missed free throw, Rebekah Chambers scored to extend the Panther lead to 15-12 to end the first quarter.

Second Quarter

McNabb got the Panthers on the board first to begin the quarter and extend the lead to 17-12. After a turnover by the Tigers, Corinne Hill took the ball to the basket, got fouled, and scored. Hill made the following free throw to extend the lead to 20-12. Following another turnover by the Tigers, Ava Hunter was fouled attempting to score. Hunter scored but the Tigers responded to make the score 28-17. Chambers scored to extend the lead to 30-17. The Tigers got fouled while attempting to go up for a layup following a missed shot. The Tigers made 1/2 free throws to cut the lead to 30-18. Following another Tigers turnover, McNabb made a deep 2 to extend the lead to 32-18. Third Quarter

To begin the second half, both teams took turns missing a couple shots. Chambers scored off a Tigers turnover to give the Panthers their first points of the half and extend the lead to 37-21. McCarter stole the ball and scored to give the Panthers a 39-21 lead. Again, both teams went on a run where neither team scored. Following a block by Hunter, McNabb scored to extend the lead to 41-21. The Tigers ended the Panthers scoring run and scored to make the score 41-23. Hunter was fouled and missed both free throws. After a turnover by the Panthers, the Tigers scored to cut the lead to 41-25. Turner stole the ball and McNabb scored to extend the lead to 43-25. The Panthers led 43-25 at the end of the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter

The Tigers scored first to begin the quarter but Turner quickly responded and extended the lead to 45-27. McCarter made a 3 to extend the lead to 48-27. Turner stole the ball and took the ball all the way to the basket and scored to give the Panthers a 50-27 lead. The Panthers didn’t score any points after this moment but the Tigers ended the game on an 11-0 run. The Panthers beat the Tigers 50-38. The Panthers hosted the Rabun County Wildcats on Tuesday night.

Both the Panthers and the Tigers began the game with 2 straight turnovers. Lake Hughes got the Panthers on the board first and the Tigers turned the ball over again. Following a turnover by the Panthers, the Tigers scored to tie it at 2. Daniel Snow got the rebound and scored to give the Panthers a 4-2 lead. The Tigers responded and tied it at 4. The Panthers had multiple opportunities to score but failed to do so and turned the ball over to the Tigers. The Tigers responded with a made 3 pointer to take their first lead of the game 7-4. Following a missed shot by Austin Taylor, the Tigers scored to extend their lead to 9-4. Hayden Payne scored off an impressive no look pass by Caleb John and cut the deficit to 9-6. After a missed shot by the Panthers and a turnover by the Tigers, Landon Kight scored to cut the deficit to 9-8. The Tigers responded with a 3 to extend their lead to 12-8 but Hayden Hughes quickly responded to cut the deficit to 12-10. Another quick response by the Tigers extended their lead to 14-10. Kight was fouled and made 1/2 free throws to cut the deficit to 14-11. The Tigers turned the ball over but the Panthers missed the layup and the Tigers took it all the way to the basket and scored to end the quarter. Second Quarter

The Tigers made a 3 and scored off 2 Panther turnovers to begin the quarter and extend their lead to 23-11. Eli Underwood ended the Tigers scoring run and picked up a foul. Underwood made the following free throw to cut the deficit to 23-14. After 2 straight turnovers by the Tigers, Underwood scored 4 straight points to cut the deficit to 23-18 as Underwood was on a 7-0 run by himself. The Tigers turned the ball over again and Houston Henry picked up the foul trying to score. Henry made 1/2 free throws to make the score 23-19. Kight scored to give the Panthers a 45-44 lead and the Tigers turned the ball over on the next possession. The Panthers turned the ball over, then John stole the ball and missed the layup and the Tigers went down and scored to take a 46-45 lead. The Panthers trailed 46-45 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Fourth Quarter

Both the Panthers and the Tigers turned the ball over to begin the quarter. The Tigers made both free throws after a foul by the Panthers to extend their lead to 48-45. Hughes was fouled and made both free throws to cut the deficit to 48-47. Snow was fouled and made 1/2 free throws to tie the score at 48. The Tigers made a 3 after a couple missed shots by both teams to take a 51-48 lead. Hughes responded and tied it at 51 but the Tigers scored and retook the lead 53-51. The Panthers were unable to hit the game winner to end the game. The game was tied 62-62 and went to overtime.

Kight scored to begin overtime and give the Panthers a 64-62 lead. After a missed shot by the Tigers, Henry made a 3 to extend the lead to 67-62. First Quarter

Lara Turner got the Lady Panthers on the board first to begin the game and gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead. The Lady Wildcats responded quickly with a 3 pointer and took a 3-2 lead. Turner took the ball all the way to the basket after the Wildcats attempted a trap on Corinne Hill and picked up a foul. Turner missed both free throws and the Wildcats made another 3 pointer to extend their lead to 6-2. The Panthers quickly broke the press and Rebekah Chambers scored to cut the deficit to 6-4. The Wildcats were fouled and made 1/2 free throws to extend their lead to 7-4. Ava Hunter was fouled on a fast break and made both free throws to cut the deficit to 7-6. Both teams missed 2 quick shots and then the Wildcats scored to extend their lead to 9-6. The Panthers pushed the ball up the court quickly and Hunter scored to cut the deficit to 9-8. The Wildcats also quickly responded and extended their lead to 11-8. The Wildcats responded and extended their lead to 34-25 and after a turnover by the Panthers they scored again to take a 36-25 lead. Hunter scored to cut the deficit to 36-27. After a blocked shot by Turner, Ariel McCarter scored to cut the deficit to 36-29. The Wildcats responded and extended their lead to 38-29. The Wildcats got fouled and made both of their free throws and extended their lead to 40-29. Hunter scored after McCarter threw the pass the full length of the court. Following a turnover by the Panthers, the Wildcats scored to extend their lead to 51-45 to begin the second half. Hunter responded with a 3 pointer to cut the deficit to 51-48 and after a missed shot by the Wildcats, Chambers scored to cut the deficit to 51-50. The Wildcats responded and extended their lead back to 3, 53-50. Following a turnover by the Panthers, the Wildcats scored again to extend their lead to 55-50. The Wildcats turned the ball over and Hunter scored to make the score 55-52. The Wildcats responded with a 3 pointer and extended their lead to 58-52 but Hunter responded and picked up the foul. Hunter made the following free throw and made the score 58-55. After the Wildcats turned the ball over, the Panthers also turned the ball over and the Wildcats scored to extend their lead to 60-55. To begin the 4th quarter, the Wildcats picked up a foul and made both free throws to extend their lead to 67-59. Hunter was fouled and made both free throws to cut the deficit to 67-61. McNabb got the rebound after a missed shot by the Wildcats but the ball was stolen and the Wildcats scored to extend their lead to 69-61. McCarter made 1/2 free throws and after Turner got the rebound, the Wildcats knocked it out of bounds. Landon Kight got the Panthers on the board first to begin the game and give the Panthers an early 2-0 lead. Both teams took turns turning the ball over but Eli Underwood made a 3 to give the Panthers an early 5-0 lead. The Wildcats quickly responded and picked up a foul before scoring. The Wildcats missed the following free throw and Lake Hughes picked up a foul trying to score. Hughes made both free throws to extend the lead to 7-2. After a turnover by the Panthers, the Wildcats made a 3 to cut the lead to 7-5. After a turnover by the Panthers, the Wildcats threw it down the court and scored to tie the game at 7. The Wildcats picked up a steal and scored while getting fouled to take their first lead of the game 9-7. After the Wildcats missed the free throw, Jude Ellis made a 3 to give the Panthers a 10-9 lead. After both teams turned the ball over, Hughes made a 3 to extend the Panthers lead to 13-9. Henry got the Panthers on the board first in the 2nd half and extended their lead to 38-29 but the Wildcats quickly responded and cut the lead to 38-31. Following a turnover and a missed shot by the Panthers, the Wildcats scored 4 straight points to cut the lead to 38-35. Kight scored to end the scoring run and extended the lead to 40-35. After the Wildcats missed 2 free throws, they got their own rebound and scored to cut the lead to 40-37. John scored to extend the lead and after a missed shot by the Wildcats, Kight scored to extend the lead to 44-37. John stole the ball at half court and scored and forced the Wildcats to call timeout as the Panthers had all the momentum up 46-37. Following the timeout, the Wildcats immediately turned the ball over and that led to a made 3 by Hughes to extend the lead to 49-37. The Wildcats scored to end the Panthers scoring run and cut the lead to 49-39. After both teams turned the ball over, Kight scored to extend the lead to 51-39 but the Wildcats responded with a 3 to cut the lead to 51-42. After another turnover by the Panthers, the Wildcats made a 3 to cut the lead to 51-45. The Wildcats scored again to cut the lead to 51-47 and were catching some momentum off multiple Panther mistakes. John was fouled and made 1/2 free throws to extend the lead to 52-47. The Wildcats quickly responded and cut the lead to 52-49 and after a Panther turnover, the Wildcats scored to end the quarter to cut the lead to 52-51.

Fourth Quarter

To begin the quarter, Taylor made a miraculous shot and picked up the foul. Taylor missed the following free throw and the Wildcats took it all the way to the basket and got fouled. The Wildcats made both free throws and cut the lead to 54-53. Taylor scored on the next possession and extended the Panther lead to 56-53 and John stole the ball on the inbound pass and scored to extend the lead to 58-53. The Wildcats quickly responded and cut the lead to 58-55. The Wildcats made a 3 to tie the game at 58 and after a Panther turnover, the Wildcats scored to take a 60-58 lead. After a technical foul called on the Wildcats, the Panthers made both free throws to tie the game at 60. The Wildcats took a 62-60 lead after a turnover by Kight but Ellis responded with a made 3 to give the Panthers a 63-62 lead. Henry picked up a steal but Ellis lost his dribble and the ball went out of bounds. The Wildcats scored and picked up the foul to take a 64-63 lead. After the Panthers had multiple chances to score in the paint and failed, the Wildcats pushed the ball up the court and scored to take a 66-63 lead. Hughes scored after rebounding his own miss and cut the deficit to 66-65. The Wildcats picked up a foul and made both free throws to extend their lead to 68-65 and then the Panthers turned the ball over. The Wildcats missed the free throw and the Panthers rebounded it. Hughes missed a long 3 but the Wildcats knocked the ball out of bounds. Hughes was fouled on a 3 and made 2/3 free throws to cut the deficit to 68-67. The Wildcats threw the ball away on the inbound pass and gave the ball back to the Panthers. Hughes was fouled after getting the inbound pass and had to shoot free throws. Hughes missed the first free throw and the Wildcats got the rebound. The Panthers would have to start fouling the Wildcats to get more possessions and try to tie the game but the Wildcats made their free throws and the Panthers failed to score. Blairsville, Georgia- The Union County Lady Panthers hosted the Towns County Lady Indians in a non region matchup on Friday night.

First Quarter

Ava Hunter got the Panthers on the board quickly following Lara Turner winning the opening tip. After 2 straight turnovers by both teams, Corinne Hill scored 4 quick points to give the Panthers a 6-0 lead. Following a timeout by the Indians, the Indians scored to cut the Panther lead to 6-2. Hunter was fouled and made both free throws to give the Panthers a 8-2 lead. The Indians were fouled following a great blocked shot by Rebekah Chambers and the Indians made 1/2 free throws. Ariel McCarter stole the ball and took the ball all the way to the basket and was fouled. McCarter missed both free throws. The Indians were fouled on the next possession and made 1/2 free throws to make the score 8-3. Chambers was fouled after taking the ball all the way to the basket following a rebound. Chambers made 1/2 free throws. Hill stole the ball after the Indians broke the full court press and Hunter scored to give the Panthers a 11-3 lead. Following a Panther turnover after a timeout, the Indians scored but Hill responded and extended the Panther lead to 13-5. Second Quarter

Both teams started the quarter turning the ball over and missing some easy shots. Turner made a 3 but the Indians scored and was fouled to make the score 21-10 following a made free throw. Turner and McCarter scored to give the Panthers a 25-10 lead. Hunter picked up another steal and quickly passed it up the court and following a missed shot, Hunter got the rebound and scored to give the Panthers a 27-10 lead. The Indians responded and ended the Panther run to cut the Panther lead to 27-12. Hunter quickly responded and scored while picking up the foul. The Indians scored first to begin the half to cut the Panther lead to 33-15 but Chambers responded and extended the Panthers lead to 35-15. Following the score by Chambers, the Panthers stole the ball at half court and Hill scored and picked up a foul to extend the lead to 37-15. Hill made the following free throw to make the score 38-15. The Panthers stole the ball at half court again and Hill scored to extend the lead to 40-15. After getting fouled, Hill made both free throws to extend the Panther lead to 42-15. After a Panther turnover, the Indians scored to end the Panthers 9-0 run and cut the Panther lead 42-17. The fourth quarter was quiet for the Panthers but the Indians outscored the Panthers 14-2. The Panthers played their 2nd and 3rd team for most of the fourth quarter as they were well ahead and in winning position. The Panthers beat the Indians 52-35. The Panthers bounced back well following the loss @ Habersham. The Panthers travel to Fannin on Saturday.

First Quarter

The Indians got on the board first to begin the game and held 2-0 lead. Following a foul after an attempted block by Caleb John, the Indians made 1/2 free throws to make the score 3-0. After missing multiple shots, Jude Ellis got the Panthers on the board following a made floater to cut the deficit to 3-2. The Indians responded after 2 missed shots by the Panthers and extended their lead to 7-2. John scored and picked up the foul but missed the following free throw. The Panthers trailed 7-4. The Indians scored again to extend their lead to 9-4 and following an Indian turnover, Ellis made a 3 to cut the deficit to 9-7. Following a foul by Lake Hughes, the Indians made both free throws and scored 4 quick points off 2 Panther turnovers to extend their lead to 15-7. After turnovers by both teams, the Indians scored again to extend their lead to 21-7. Hayden Payne got the Panthers on the board for the first time in the quarter as he scored off a nice backdoor cut and cut the deficit to 21-9. Hughes made a 3 to cut the deficit to 21-12 but the Indians scored on a last second shot to extend there lead to 23-12 to end the half.

Third Quarter

Payne scored to begin the half, picked up a foul, and made the following free throw to cut the deficit to 23-15. The Indians were fouled on their possession and made 1/2 free throws to extend their leas to 24-15. Henry was fouled and made both free throws to make the score 24-17 but after a turnover by the Panthers, the Indians pushed the ball up quick and scored to extend their lead to 26-17. Henry scored and Ellis made a deep 3 to cut the deficit to 26-22 and forced the Indians to call a timeout. Following the timeout, the Indians scored to extend their lead to 28-22. After a missed shot by the Indians, Ellis made another deep 3 to make the score 28-25. The Indians made both free throws following a foul to begin the quarter to extend the Indians lead to 35-28. Ellis made a deep 3 from the logo to cut the deficit to 35-31. Following another foul by the Panthers, the Indians made 1/2 free throws to make the score 36-31. Payne scored as he was getting fouled but missed the following free throw to make the score 36-33 but the Indians responded and extended their lead to 38-33. Blairsville, Georgia- The Union County Panthers basketball team traveled to Fannin County to take on the Rebels in a non region matchup.

First Quarter

The Panthers scored first to begin the game as Houston Henry found Hayden Payne and Payne scored to give the Panthers an early 2-0 lead. Following 2 missed free throws by the Rebels, Caleb John made 1/2 free throws to extend the lead to 3-0. After a turnover by the Panthers, the Rebels scored to cut the lead to 3-2. The Panthers were having a tough time breaking the full court press and the Rebels took a 4-3 lead after a steal, forcing the Panthers to call timeout. Following the timeout, the Rebels scored again to extend their lead to 6-3. After a foul by Henry, the Rebels made 1/2 free throws to make the score 7-3. Jude Ellis ended the scoring run with a made floater and then John scored to tie the game at 7. Henry made both free throws after getting fouled to give the Panthers a 9-7 lead. The Rebels tied the game at 9 after the Panthers turned the ball over after missed free throws by the Rebels. After a low scoring quarter for both teams due to multiple turnovers by both teams, the game was tied at 9 at the end of the first quarter.

Second Quarter

After a turnover by the Panthers in their first possession of the quarter, the Rebels scored to take an 11-9 lead. Henry tied the game at 11 after picking up a foul and making both free throws and then Eli Underwood scored to give the Panthers a 13-11 lead. Ellis made a 3 to extend the lead to 16-11 as the Panthers were on a quick 6-0 run to begin the quarter. Following a turnover by the Rebels, John pushed the ball up the court and scored to extend the lead to 18-11. The Rebels scored to end the Panthers scoring run and cut the deficit to 18-13. After multiple possessions by both teams where neither team scored, Braylen Rader scored and picked up a foul. Rader made the following free throw to give the Panthers a 21-13 lead. After making 1/2 free throws, the Rebels scored again making a 3 to cut the lead to 21-17. The Panthers led 21-17 at halftime.

Third Quarter

The Rebels scored first to begin the half to cut the lead to 21-19. Lake Hughes was fouled and made both free throws to extend the lead to 23-19 but the Rebels responded with 1/2 made free throws to make the score 23-20. Underwood rebounded the ball and scored to extend the Panthers lead to 25-20. The Rebels responded with a 3 to cut the lead to 25-23. Austin Taylor scored his first points of the game as he made a 3 to extend the lead to 28-23 but the Rebels quickly responded and cut the lead to 28-25. Underwood scored again and Rader stole the ball on the inbound pass by the Rebels but the Rebels drew a charge. Following a turnover by the Rebels, Rader scored to extend the Panthers lead to 32-25. The Panthers turned the ball over as they were having trouble breaking the full court press and the Rebels scored. Rader responded after the Panthers pushed the ball up the court quickly and extended their lead to 34-27. The Rebels made a last second 3 to cut the lead to 34-30 to end the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter

To begin the fourth quarter, the Rebels made 1/2 free throws to cut the lead to 34-31 but Underwood responded to extend the Panthers lead to 36-31. The Rebels scored immediately following the made basket to cut the lead to 36-33. John scored to extend the Panther lead to 38-33 and following a turnover by the Rebels, Underwood was fouled attempting to score. Underwood made both free throws to extend the lead to 40-33. The Rebels responded again with a made floater to cut the lead to 40-35. Ellis made a 3 to extend the lead to 43-35 and Henry scored to give the Panthers a 45-35 lead with less than 5 minutes to go. The Rebels responded and cut the lead to 45-37. After a turnover by the Panthers, the Rebels made a 3 while being fouled. The Rebels made the following free throw to cut the lead to 45-41. The Panthers turned the ball over while inbounding the ball and the Rebels scored again while picking up the foul. The Panthers still led 45-43 but the Panthers turned the ball over again trying to break the full court press. Henry fouled on an attempted 3 by the Rebels and the Rebels made 1/3 free throws to make the score 45-44. The Rebels took a 46-45 lead but Ellis took the ball all the way to the basket on the next possession and was fouled. Ellis tied the game at 46 after making 1/2 free throws. The Rebels retook the lead and led 48-46 but following turnovers by both teams, Henry made a 3 to give the Panthers a 49-48 lead with 40 seconds left. After the Panthers turned the ball over, the Rebels were fouled attempting to score and made 1/2 free throws to tie the game at 49. The game went to overtime as both teams were tied at 49.

Overtime

Nothing went right for the Panthers in overtime. The Rebels had all the momentum and quickly ran away with the game. The Panthers were outscored 11-4 in overtime. The Panthers fall to 3-7 on the year and lose their 6th game within 10 points. The Panthers will travel to Towns County on Friday.

Ariel McCarter got the Panthers on the board first to begin the game but the Rebels responded and tied the game at 2. The Rebels took a 5-2 lead after making a 3 but Ava Hunter scored and cut the score to 5-4. After multiple turnovers and missed shots by both teams, the Rebels were fouled on a 3 point shot. the Rebels made 2/3 free throws to extend their lead to 7-4. The Rebels scored 5 quick points to extend their lead to 12-4. Sofia McNabb responded with a made floater to cut the deficit to 12-6. The Rebels made 1/2 free throws to extend their lead to 13-6 to end the first quarter.

Second Quarter

The Rebels scored quickly to begin the second quarter after a steal to extend their lead to 15-6. Chambers scored to cut the deficit to 15-8 but the Rebels quickly responded with a 3 to extend their lead to 18-8. Panthers break 20 game losing streak on the road beating Habersham Central 65-61

Mt Airy, Georgia- The Union County Basketball team traveled to Habersham Central High School to take on the Raiders in a non region matchup. This will be the second meeting between teams this season.

First Quarter

Lake Hughes got the Panthers on the board first as he scored after missing 2 shots and getting both rebounds. The Raiders quickly responded to tie the game at 2. The Raiders took a 5-2 lead after a made a 3 but Hughes immediately responded with a 3 to tie the game at 5. The Raiders pushed the ball up the court quick and scored to take a 7-5 lead. Both teams took turns missing a couple of shots due to good defense by both teams. Jude Ellis made 2 straight 3 pointers to give the Panthers a 11-7 lead. Hughes also made a 3 to give the Panthers a 14-7 lead as the Panthers were on a quick 9-0 run. Following a missed 3 by the Raiders, the Raider player got the rebound and scored to end the Panther run and cut the lead to 14-9. Daniel Snow was fouled after getting the rebound following a miss and made both free throws to give the Panthers a 16-9 lead. The Panthers led 16-9 at the end of the first quarter after both offenses went quiet to end the quarter.

Second Quarter

After getting fouled, the Raiders made both free throws to begin the quarter to cut the lead to 16-11. The Raiders picked up another foul and made 1/2 free throws to make the score 16-12. Ellis made a corner 3 to score his 9th point of the half but the Raiders quickly responded with a mid range jumper to make the score 19-14. Following a foul on a fast break, the Raiders made both free throws to make the score 19-16. Snow got his shot blocked and got the ball back and scored to give the Panthers a 21-16 lead. Following a missed 3 pointer by the Raiders, Ellis made an impressive fadeaway floater to extend the Panthers lead to 23-16. The Raiders pushed the ball up the court quickly and scored but Ellis made another corner 3 to extend the Panthers lead to 26-16. After4 straight points by the Raiders and a turnover by the Panthers, Ellis made a step back 3 to extend the Panthers lead to 29-20 and score his 11th point of the quarter. The Raiders responded again and scored 4 quick points. The Raiders were pushing the ball up quickly to catch the Panthers off balance. Following 2 made free throws, the Raiders cut the Panther lead to 29-26. Hayden Payne scored to give the Panthers a 31-26 lead and slow down the Raiders momentum. After a missed 3 by Ellis and a turnover, the Raiders made a 3 and scored after getting fouled to tie the game at 31. The game was tied at 31.

Third Quarter

After a turnover by the Raiders, Caleb John was fouled and made both free throws to give the Panthers a 33-31 lead. Following the Raiders 2nd turnover in a row, Hughes made a 3 to extend the lead to 36-31. The Raiders scored their 1st points of the half to cut the lead to 36-33. Following a foul by the Panthers after a turnover, the Raiders made both free throws to cut the Panther lead to 36-35. Payne was fouled and made both free throws to extend the Panther lead but the Raiders immediately responded to cut the lead back to 1, 38-37. The Raiders took their first lead of the half 42-38, after a made corner 3 and 2 made free throws. Payne responded and Hughes made a 3 to give the Panthers a 43-42 lead. The Raiders tied the game at 43 after making 1/2 free throws. Hughes made both free throws to give the Panthers a 45-43 lead but the Raiders responded immediately and tied the game at 45. Hughes scored again to give the Panthers a 47-45 lead but again, the Raiders responded and tied the game at 47. Hughes scored his 10th straight point to give the Panthers the lead again, 50-47. The Raiders made 1/2 free throws to cut the Panther lead to 50-48 and Houston Henry made a 3 to extend the Panther lead to 53-48. Both teams defenses picked up the aggressiveness to end the quarter. The Panthers led 53-48 to end the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter

The Raiders got on the board first after a turnover by the Panthers to start the quarter to cut the Panther lead to 53-50. The Raiders scored again off of another Panther turnover to cut the Panther lead to 1, 53-52. After a foul by the Panthers, the Raiders made 1/2 free throws to tie the game at 53. Hughes made both free throws to give the Panthers a 55-53 lead. Following a Raider turnover, Hughes scored but the Raiders quickly responded again to make the score 57-55. After multiple missed shots by the Panthers in one possession, the Raiders scored to tie the game at 57. After 2 great defensive possessions by the Panthers, Payne scored to give the Panthers a 59-57 lead. After a foul, the Raiders made 1/2 free throws to make the score 59-58. Hughes, scoring his 6th point of the quarter, extended the Panther lead to 61-58. Ellis was fouled and made both free throws to give the Panthers a 61-58 lead but the Raiders responded to cut the lead to 1, 61-60. The Raiders were fouled and made 1/2 free throws to extend their lead to 7-3. Hunter was fouled again and made both free throws to cut the Raider lead to 7-5. Turner scored to tie the game at 7 but the Raiders responded with a 3, their 3rd of there quarter, to take a 10-7 lead. Turner scored her 6th point of the quarter to cut the deficit to 10-9. The Raiders scored their 4th 3 pointer of the quarter to extend their lead to 13-9. After the Raiders made their 5th 3 pointer of the half, Turner responded with a deep 2 to make the score 16-11. Hunter was fouled and made both free throws to cut the deficit to 16-13. The Raiders extended their lead to 18-13 after making both free throws after being fouled. Second Quarter

Both teams took turns turning the ball over to begin the quarter before Ariel McCarter got the Panthers on the board first with a 3 pointer and tied the game at 18. The Raiders retook the lead, 21-18, after making their 6th 3 pointer of the half but McCarter quickly scored to cut the deficit to 21-20. The Raiders scored to extend their lead back to 3, 23-20. Second Half

In the second half, nothing good went the Panthers way. Multiple missed shots and turnovers led to the Panthers being outscored 38-12 in the second half. The Raiders were on fire in the second half and it felt like they couldn’t miss any of their shots. The Panthers fall to the Raiders 70-40 as the Panthers fall to 5-4 on the season. The Panthers will host Towns County on Friday night and travel to Fannin County on Saturday evening.

First Quarter

Both teams had a hard time scoring to begin the game due to very aggressive defense by both teams. The Indians got on the board first with a 3 pointer to take a 3-0 lead. Lake Hughes responded with a 3 pointer to tie the game at 3. The Indians scored while being fouled and made the following free throw to take a 6-3 lead. Houston Henry was fouled and made 1/2 free throws to cut the deficit to 6-4. Caleb John stole the ball and scored to tie the game at 6. The Indians scored to retake an 8-6 lead. Jude Ellis responded with a 3 pointer to give the Panthers a 9-8 lead. After a quick missed shot following a timeout, the Indians responded with another 3 pointer to take a 11-9 lead. The game had a very fast pace to it and no easy shots were taken by either team. Hayden Payne was fouled and made both free throws to tie the game at 11. Lake Hughes started a fast break and assisted John as he scored to give the Panthers back the lead, 13-11. Following another made 3 pointer, the Indians took back the lead but Payne quickly scored to give the Panthers a 15-14 lead. Eli Underwood quickly got the Panthers’ offense going as he scored to extend the lead to 18-14. After a missed 3 by the Panthers, the Indians made 1/2 free throws to cut the lead to 18-15. Snow made a 3 pointer to extend the Panther lead to 21-15. Ellis stole the ball away and scored to give the Panthers a 23-15 lead after another impressive euro step. John made an impressive no look pass to Snow, and Snow scored to extend the lead to 25-15. Right out of the gate, the Indians made a 3 to cut the lead to 33-30. The Panthers had 3 straight possessions where they did not score that included a missed layup, but Hughes got the Panthers on the board with a deep 3 to make the score 36-30. The Indians responded with a deep 3 to cut the Panther lead to 36-33 but Hughes responded with another deep 3 pointer to extend the Panther lead to 39-33. Fourth Quarter

The Panthers took a 48-46 lead after making 1/2 free throws and getting a rebound and scoring. John missed a layup but got his own rebound and scored to give the Panthers some momentum and make the score 50-46. The Panthers were getting in more foul trouble after 4 quick fouls were called on the Panthers. After a missed shot by the Panthers, the Indians made a 3 to cut the lead to 50-49. Hughes responded with a layup to extend the Panther lead to 52-49. Both Houston Henry and Austin Taylor fouled out in the fourth quarter. The Indians cut the deficit to 52-51 after both fouled out. Following a Panther turnover, the Indians scored to take a late 53-52 lead. Underwood made the game winning 3 pointer with a minute remaining. The Indians had multiple chances to score within the last minute of the game, but the Panther defense had their best minute of the season so far. The Indians missed the game tying shot and the Panthers won 55-53. The Panthers traveled to White County and lost 53-39. The Panthers’ record falls to 2-5. The Panthers will travel to Habersham on Tuesday, host Towns County on Friday and travel to Fannin County on Saturday.

Blairsville, Georgia- The Union County Lady Panthers basketball team hosted the Lumpkin County Indians in a non region matchup.

First Quarter

To begin the game, the Indians got off to a hot start up 12-3 forcing a quick Panthers timeout. The Indians kept their momentum going out of the timeout outscoring the Panthers 10-2 before the Panthers used another timeout after turning the ball over multiple times. The very talented Indians team was showing that they are the real deal. Nothing went the Panthers’ way in the first quarter and were held to only 8 points. The Panthers trailed 22-8.

Second Quarter

Ava Hunter got the Panthers on the board first to begin the quarter to cut the deficit to 22-10 but the Indians responded with a 3 pointer to make the score 25-10. The Indians went on a 6-0 run to take a 31-10 lead before Rebekah Chambers ended the run with a layup. The Panthers still trailed 31-12. Lara Turner was fouled and made both free throws to cut the deficit to 31-14. The Indians scored on another Panther turnover to extend their lead to 33-14 but Turner responded with a nice backdoor cut that led to a layup to make the score 33-16. Following 1/2 made free throws by Hunter, the Indians made another 3 pointer to extend their lead to 36-17. After an Indian turnover, Turner scored to cut the deficit to 36-19 but the Indians responded with another 3 pointer to extend their lead to 39-19. Hunter scored to make the score 39-21 but the Panthers were having a hard time stopping the Indians from scoring as they made another 3 pointer to extend their lead to 42-21. The Indians extended their lead to 44-21 after a mid range jumper. The Panthers trailed 44-21 at halftime.

Third Quarter

Hunter got the Panthers on the board first to begin the second half after making both free throws. The Indians responded and extended their lead to 46-23. Chambers and Hunter both scored to make the score 46-27. The Indians responded with another 3 pointer to extend their lead to 49-27. Turner responded with a deep 2 to cut the deficit to 49-29, but the Indians responded with a 3 to extend their lead to 52-29. Hunter scored to cut the deficit to 52-31. The Panthers went on a quick 4-0 run but the Indians responded with another 3 to extend their lead to 55-35. The Panthers trailed 57-37 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Fourth Quarter

Nothing went in the Panthers’ favor in the 4th quarter. The Panthers pulled their starters midway through the 4th quarter after the lead was out of reach. The Lady Panthers traveled to White County on Friday for another non region matchup and ended their losing streak beating the Warriors 75-66.

To begin the 2nd half, John stole the ball and took it all the way to the basket and scored to make the score 25-24. Ellis made a 3 to give the Panthers a 27-25 lead. Austin Taylor was fouled and missed both free throws but Henry got the rebound and scored to cut the deficit to 34-33. The Trojans responded with a mid range jumper to extend their lead to 36-33. Ellis was fouled and made both free throws to cut the lead to 36-35. Following a steal, John scored and gave the Panthers a 37-36 lead. Ellis was fouled after another steal and made both free throws to extend the lead to 39-36. The Trojans tied the game at 39 after making a 3. Taylor responded with a 3 to give the Panthers a 42-39 lead. The Panthers led 42-39 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Fourth Quarter

The Trojans scored first to begin the fourth quarter to make the score 42-41. The Trojans scored again to retake the lead 43-42. The Trojans extended their lead to 45-42 after making 2 free throws. Ellis scored to cut the deficit to 45-44. Henry scored to give the Panthers the lead 46-45. The Trojans scored to retake the lead 47-46 and then scored again to extend their lead to 49-46. The Trojans would extend their lead to 51-46 after a Panther turnover and force the Panthers to call timeout. The Panthers would start to foul to try and get extra possessions and try and win the game but the Trojans would pull away and win 56-47. The Panthers fall to 1-4 on the season. The Panthers host Lumpkin County on Thursday and travel to White County on Friday.

Gainesville, Georgia- The Union County Lady Panthers basketball team traveled to North Hall High school to take on the Lady Trojans in a non region matchup.

First Quarter

The Panthers got on the board first after both teams took turns missing shots on multiple possessions. The Trojans responded with a 3 pointer to take an early 3-2 lead. Following a Trojan turnover, Sofia McNabb made a 3 pointer to give the Panthers a 5-3 lead. Chambers made 1/2 free throws to extend the Panther lead to 6-3. After being fouled again, Chambers made both free throws and extended the Panther lead to 8-3. The Trojans responded with another 3 to cut the lead to 8-6. Corinne Hill made a 3 to extend the Panther lead to 11-6. Both teams went on a long run of turning the ball over and missing shots. The Trojans ended the run with another 3, their 3rd of the game, to cut the lead to 11-9. After a Trojan turnover, Ava Hunter made a 3 to make the score 14-9. The fourth quarter was a low scoring quarter for both teams. Both teams rested their starters after midway through the quarter. The Panthers fell to North Hall 78-49. The Panthers fall to 4-2 on the season. The Panthers will host Lumpkin County on Thursday and travel to White County on Friday.

Flowery Branch, Georgia- The Union County Basketball team traveled back to Cherokee Bluff to face off with Wilson Academy in the North Georgia High School Showcase.

First Quarter

In a very low scoring game for both teams, Jude Ellis got the Panthers on the board first as he made a midrange floater. Wilson Academy responded with 2 made free throws after the Panthers fouled on the attempted layup and took the lead, 4-2, after a Panther turnover. Hayden Payne made a layup to tie the game at 4. Ellis gave the Panthers a 9-4 lead after he scored 5 straight points after shooting 2 free throws, making a layup while being fouled and making the following free throw. Following a Panther turnover, Wilson Academy responded with a layup to cut the lead to 9-6. Lake Hughes made a corner 3 to extend the lead to 12-6. Wilson Academy made 1/2 free throws after the Panthers would foul on an attempted shot. The Panthers still led 12-7. Houston Henry made a corner 3 to give the Panthers a 15-7 lead. Wilson Academy quickly responded with a mid range jumper to cut the lead to 15-9.

Second Quarter

Wilson Academy got on the board first following turnovers by both teams to cut the lead to 15-11. Ellis responded with a 3 to extend the lead to 18-11. Wilson Academy scored 4 straight points after back to back turnovers by the Panthers to make the score 18-15. Hughes scored on a contested layup to give the Panthers a 20-15 lead but Wilson Academy immediately responded to make the score 20-17. Wilson Academy would score again after a foul by the Panthers to cut the lead to 20-19. After a missed free throw, Wilson Academy got the rebound and made the shot to give them their first lead of the game 21-20. Eli Underwood gave the Panthers a 22-21 lead with a made layup. After a Wilson Academy turnover, the Panthers turned the ball over right back to them and they scored to take a 23-22 lead. The Panthers trailed 23-22 at halftime.

Third Quarter

After multiple turnovers by both teams, Wilson Academy got on the board first in the second half after making 1/2 free throws to take a 24-22 lead. It took 3 minutes for either team to score. Wilson Academy would score 6 straight points after a couple missed shots and a turnover at mid court by the Panthers to take a 30-22 lead. Wilson Academy would make both free throws to extend their lead to 32-22. Hughes would end the run with another corner 3 to make the score 32-25. Caleb John scored on a very contested floater to cut the deficit to 32-27. Wilson Academy made a 3 pointer following another Panther turnover to take a 35-27 lead. The Bears scored the first point of the game after making 1/2 free throws. The Panthers quickly responded as Daniel Snow made an easy layup to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead. The Bears responded with 5 quick points to lead 6-2. Jude Ellis responded with an impressive euro step layup to cut the deficit to 6-4. The Bears made both free throws after a foul by the Panthers to take a 8-4 lead. Following a Panthers turnover, the Bears scored again after being fouled to take a 10-4 lead. The Bears made the following free throw to take an 11-4 lead. Ellis responded with a 3 pointer to cut the deficit to 11-7 but the Bears moved quickly up the court to take a 13-7 lead. Following turnovers by both teams, Ellis scored again as he made another impressive layup to cut the deficit to 13-9. Following a foul by John, the Bears made both free throws to extend their lead to 15-9. The Bears would score again after another Panther turnover and extend their lead to 17-9. Lake Hughes made a 3 pointer to slow down the momentum the Bears had and cut the lead to 17-12. A technical foul was called on one of the Bears players and the Panthers made the free throw to make the score 17-13. The Bears made 1/2 free throws and made the score 18-13. The Panthers were down 18-13 to end the first quarter.

Houston Henry got the Panthers on the board first in the second quarter after making 1/2 free throws to make the score 18-14. Ellis made a very contested layup to make the score 35-33. Hughes was fouled after getting the rebound off of a missed 3 and attempting a layup. Hughes made both free throws to tie the game at 35. After a Panther turnover, the Bears retook the lead 37-35 but Hughes responded with a 3 to give the Panthers a 38-37 lead. Both teams took turns taking the lead as scoring went back and forth. The Bears went on a run but the Panthers responded well. The Bears led 50-44. John scored to cut the lead to 50-46. After making 1/2 free throws the Bears extended their lead to 51-46. The Bears made a layup to get on the board first to lead 55-49. John was fouled and made both free throws to cut the lead to 55-51 but the Bears responded and extended their lead to 57-51. Hughes was fouled on a 3 and made all 3 free throws to make the score 57-54. After a foul, the Bears made both free throws to extend their lead to 59-54. John was fouled and made 1/2 free throws to cut the lead to 59-55. Both teams scored to make the score 61-57. The Bears were fouled on a 3 and made 2/3 free throws to make the score 63-57. The Bears were fouled again and made 1/2 free throws to extend their lead to 64-57. Ellis made a lead to cut the deficit to 64-60 and Braelyn Rader made a 3 to cut the deficit to 64-63.
