Charles Robert Boss, 86 of Blairsville, GA died Thursday, May 31, at Piedmont Walton Hospital in Monroe, GA.  He was born in New York City on October 31, 1931, the son of Kathryn & William Boss.  He was the loving husband of the late Marie Kathleen Boss (2001).

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Boss; his five children, Patricia Driver, Marie Boss, Bill Boss, Edward Boss, Mathew Boss, and their spouses; six stepchildren, Loretta Wingate, Bill Rowley, Dennis Rowley, Richard Rowley, Kevin Rowley, Diane Rowley and their spouses.  He also has eight grandchildren, thirteen step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.

He attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Blairsville, GA and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955.

A memorial service will be held on Friday June 8, 2018 at 11:oo am from St. Franicis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Juan Areiza officiating. Special music will be presented by Ron Gaucher and serving as cantor will be Maryanne Englemann Military Honors will be presented by the North GA. Honor Guard..  Interment will follow on Monday June 11, 2018 at 12:00 pm in the Andersonville National Cemetery. Mrs. Rosemary Landrum Entz age 84 of Rosemary Drive Blairsville passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday May 20, 2018 following a brief illness. Mrs. Entz was born on July 17, 1933 in Paragould, Arkansas, the daughter of the late John Landrum and the late Grace Butler Landrum. Rosemary obtained her teaching degree and had taught school in Pusan Korea, Seoul Korea, Silver Spring, MD., Pine Mountain Valley, GA., Lenoir City, TN, Dayton, TN. and home schooling in Blairsville for several years. She made her home in Union County in the early sixties.  She also taught piano lessons for many years. Rosemary was a singer, song writer, artist and was involved in prison ministry. She was a devout Christian who loved her Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edwin Landrum and a sister, June Smith. Mrs. Entz was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Blairsville.

Surviving Mrs. Entz are two daughters, Emily Newell of Blairsville, Evelyn Mansur of Oldsmar, FL., one sister, Grace Lively of Blairsville, six grandchildren, Jan Michael Newell, J. Benjamin Newell, Isabella Zamora, Shane Thani, Brianna Mansur and Mikayla Miller, four great grandchildren, Michael Aiden, Marley and Theodore Cash Newell and Mason Owen, several nieces, nephews, a host of her church family, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 24, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Pastor  Valentin Rusu officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Ben Newell, Michael Newell, Eddie Smith, Bill Curtin and John Bilbo. Interment will follow in the Meadow View Cemetery. Patricia Ann Light, 79, of Hiawassee, GA died on May 13, 2018. She is survived by her three children: Mary George, Tim Malolepsy, and Mary Ann Richards. A private celebration of life will be held. Mr. Don Franklin Phillips, age 86 of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday evening at Wood Dale Health Care Center in Dalton, Georgia.

Mr. Phillips was born in Blairsville, Georgia, August 14, 1931 a son of the late Robert Franklin “Bob” and Bonnie Alexander Phillips.  Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Phillips.

He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, a member of the South Dalton Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee, member of the mission board and an usher. He was a member of the Alegheny #114 Masonic Lodge in Blairsville.  He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

Mr. Phillips was a self-made man, he was the former owner of the Phillips Chevrolet in Blairsville, The Phillips Land Company and Eastside Carpet in Dalton, Georgia.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Putnam Phillips of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Donny F. Phillips Jr. and his wife Sandra of Suwanee, Georgia, Ivan and Leah Phillips of Cartersville, Georgia; step-sons and spouses , Alan Franks of Gainesville, Georgia, Terry and Judy Putnam of Dalton, Georgia; grandchildren, Blakely, Hunter, Lauren, William and Isaac Phillips, Seantee Wilson, Tessy Franks, and Josh Putnam; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat and Susie Phillips of Blairsville, Georgia, Troy and Jean Phillips of Dalton, Georgia; several other nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends also survive.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at The Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

Mr. Phillips will then be taken to Mountain View Funeral Home in Blairsville, Georgia, where the family will receive friends on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 2:00 P.M.

The service to celebrate the life of Mr. Don Phillips will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. from the Mountain View Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Stiles and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating.

He will be laid to rest at the Old Brasstown Baptist Church Cemetery in Young, Harris, Georgia with Robbie Phillips, Drew Phillips, Greg Hopkins, Josh Putnam, Woody Mullins, and Philip Stubblefield honored to serve as pallbearers.  Military graveside honors will be provided to commemorate Mr. Phillips service to our country.

Barbara Roche age 79 of Young Harris, GA passed away peacefully on Saturday April 14, 2018 in her own apartment home following an extended illness. Barbara was born in Miami, FL July 20, 1938, the daughter of John Roy Roche and Alice Andersen Roche.  She is survived by her niece Tina Jelly.  Barbara loved the Lord Jesus and dedicated her life to teaching young children in private Christian schools and personal tutoring for many years.  She enjoyed the mountains and the love of many friends.  Her loving caring spirit has marked the lives of all who crossed her path.

Barbara believed, lived and exemplified her favorite Bible verses: “Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.  Having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.”  Colossians 2: 6, 7

Mr. Adam Lee Williams age 41 of Fires creek Road Hayesville passed away on Saturday April 14 a this home. Adam was born on April 3, 1977 in Willows California . Adam was preceded In death by his father Aubrey Williams ,a brother John Williams and a son Collin Williams. Adam had lived in the local area for about 15 years. Adam was a master at grilling food and he enjoyed hunting and fishing when he wasn’t climbing trees for H&L Clearing where he was a crew foreman. He was a big fan of the Ga bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons.

Surviving Adam are his wife Candice Williams, three sons, Jacob, Gavin, and Zane Williams all of the home, his mother Patricia Woodhall of Colorado, one brother Bryan Williams , Grandmother Beverly Crawford, Aunt Lisa Davis and Uncle Jeff Williams all of Willows California, one sister, Alicia Barrett and his Step mother, Susan Williams both of La Crosse, Wi.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.

Mrs. Ann J. Waite, age 93, of Ivy Meadow Lane, Blairsville, passed away peacefully at Union County Nursing Home on Friday April 6, 2018 following an extended illness. Mrs. Waite was born in 1924 in Chicago, IL., the daughter of the late Clarence Tusinski and the late Joanna Hildenbrant. Ann was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She always loved things clean and organized. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. Waite, her parents and also a brother, George Tusinski. Mrs. Waite attended Shepherd of the Mountains Church.

Surviving Mrs. Waite are two sons and daughters in law, Robert and Eileen Waite of Hilton Head, SC., Ronald and Patti Waite of Elk Grove Village, IL., two daughters and a son in law, Barbara Bauer of Medina, OH., Linda and Carl Payntor of Blairsville, one sister, Dorothy Kanne of Tulsa, OK., nine grandchildren, Kerry and Marcus Perry, Alyssa and Todd Summer, Rob and Amy Waite, Jason and Tracy Bauer, Melissa Bauer, Adam and Kelly Waite, Theresa Waite, Juliann Waite, Alexandra and Mike Gallant, thirteen great grandchildren, Andrew, Nate, Gabe, Zach and Quinny Perry, Kaylin, Erwin and Morgan Summer, Abby, Jack, Trevin and Marlee Waite and Kirsten Bauer, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Mary Owenby Dockery, age 93, lifelong resident of Young Harris, Georgia, who passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 in Clay County Care Center in Hayesville, North Carolina.

Mrs. Dockery was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She will always be remembered by how she lovingly tended her flowers and garden, and how she enjoyed every minute of caring for them. A wonderful cook, her specialty were her biscuits – they were the very best! She had a black cat that was special to her, whom she named “Stubs”. Mrs. Dockery had been preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Dockery; a son, Junior Dockery; and her parents, Gordon Owenby and Laura Brown Owenby.
Surviving family members left to treasure their memories of Mrs. Dockery are: son and daughter-in-law, James and Tillie Dockery, of Morganton, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Harold Henderson, of Young Harris, Georgia; and daughter and son-in-law, Jessie and Ricky Davis, of Blairsville; two sisters: Alice Conard, of Gastonia, North Carolina, and Norma Dockery, of Blairsville, Georgia; eight grandchildren: Tommy Dockery, Jeanne Dockery, Joy Tillman, Chris Dockery, Cameron Henderson, Casey Henderson, Cody Henderson, and Brooke Henderson; nine great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, March 24, 2018, to be held at 4:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville. The following grandsons have the honor to serve as pallbearers: Cameron Henderson, Casey Henderson, Cody Henderson, Tommy Dockery, Jamey Dockery, and Chris Dockery. Burial will be in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, where Mrs. Dockery will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Mr. Ronnie Lee Deyton age 60 of Overlook Court Blairsville formerly of Blue Ridge passed away on Sunday March 25, 2018 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Deyton was born on Jan. 23, 1958 in Blue Ridge, GA., the son of the late Baxter Deyton and the late Edith Kinser Deyton. Ronnie loved restoring antique cars. He loved fast cars and motorcycle and listening to music. His life was his family and many friends. He was a loving husband, father and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents and also a sister, Janie Kendrick. Ronnie was a member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving Ronnie are his loving wife and best friend of thirty six years, Teresa Key Deyton of Blairsville, one son, Adam Deyton of Cherry Log, GA., one sister and brother in law, Genny and David Elliott of Blue Ridge, one brother and sister in law, Allen (Doc) and Jean Deyton of Cleveland, TN., several special nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. James Robert Hadas age 55 of Forsythia Lane Hayesville passed away peacefully at his home on Monday March 5, 2018 following a brief illness. Mr. Hadas was born on August 12, 1962 in Key West, FL., the son of Samuel Hadas and Janet Cormack Hadas. He was a lifelong resident of Clay County. He was a veteran of the US Navy. James was a member of the Hayesville American Legion. He enjoyed working with horses and spending time outdoors. He was a loving father, son, brother and grandfather. James was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Hadas are his parents, Sam and Janet Hadas of Bonifay, FL., one daughter and son in law, Ana and Jason Hall of Hayesville, one son and daughter in law, Ryan and Jordan Hadas of Marble, NC., two brothers and sisters in law, Sam and Christine Hadas of NJ., Paul and Thala Hadas of Iowa, one grandson, Elijah Hall, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Lonnie Lee Crumpton III age 40 of Juniper Lane Blairsville passed away peacefully on Sunday March 4, 2018 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Crumpton was born on June 9, 1977 in Natchitoches, LA., the son of Lonnie Lee Crumpton Jr. and Lisa Rose Kestler Crumpton. Lee was a veteran of the US Navy. He graduated from Grand Forks ND. High School, a graduate of the Naval Nuclear Power training Command and a graduate of Louisania Technical University. He was also a Railroad Engineer with Union Pacific for over eight years. He was a loving son, brother cousin and nephew. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lonnie and Shawnee Crumpton  Sr., Betty Mooty, cousins, Wesley Jordan and Tammy Smith. Lee was of the Christian faith.

Surviving Lee are his mother and stepfather, Lisa and Scott Leonard of Blairsville, his father and stepmother, Lonnie and Sandra Crumpton Jr. of St. Louis, MO., brothers and sister in law, Tyler and Tiffany Leonard, Michael Leonard, and one sister, Emi Leonard all of Blairsville, several aunts, uncles, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday March 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm from the Meadow View Cemetery with the Rev. Pat Garrett officiating. The family will meet with friends following the services at the cemetery.

Mr. John W. Maynard, age 91 of Blairsville, GA passed away Friday March 2, 2018 in Chatuge Nursing Home in Towns County, GA after an extended illness.  He was born July 18, 1926 in Center Square, PA to the late Gerald L and Marietta (Lawson) Maynard.  He was a member of Coosa United Methodist Church. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a U.S. Postal Letter Carrier and enjoyed his retirement years working outside in his yard.  He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara W. Maynard.

Survivors include a son Jay Maynard, step- children William Field, Terri Vincent and Nancy Holland, 2 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his siblings Betty Pennock and Herbert Maynard.

On Friday, March 30th at 1:00 pm a graveside prayer will be offered by Rev Roy Watkins at the Coosa United Methodist Church located at 767 Mulky Gap Road Blairsville Ga. 30512. The family will meet with friends following the service.

Dorothy Mae South Leroux was born in Dayton, OH on January 31, 1932. She married Winston Leroux at age 16 and they had two daughters: Rene’ Annette Leroux O’Connell and Denise Elaine Leroux Zagrocki.

She lived in Orlando, FL before moving to Hayesville, NC to live with her daughter, Denise, and son-in-law Dwain Zagrocki.

She enjoyed gardening and volunteering in Orlando for BETA, an organization that helped single mothers by taking care of their babies while they finished their education. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and playing card and board games and watching game shows on TV.

She had a career in advertising and worked as chief copywriter for Stonebrook Advertising Agency doing advertising for Belks. She is survived by her daughter Denise Zagrocki and her husband Dwain, and grandchildren Joe Mouad, Rami Mouad, and Amira Mouad,Christopher Ian Maclead and Sean Edward O’Connell, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 18, 2018 2:00pm  from the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Hayesville with Rev. Bill Breedlove officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Mrs. Leroux. Mr. Edward Harper Stapleton age 64 of Lakeland, FL., passed away peacefully on Monday July 23, 2018 at the home of his brother following an extended illness. Mr. Stapleton was born on November 23, 1953 in Greensboro, GA., the son of Laura Jeanne Harper Stapleton and the late David Stapleton.  Edward had retired from Great Northern Food’s after many years of service. He was a loving son, brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgianne Giddeons Stapleton in 2011, his son, Nick Stapleton in 2007 and his father David Stapleton in 1969. Mr. Stapleton was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Stapleton are his mother, Laura Stapleton Stewart of Union Point, GA., one brother and sister in law, George and Janet Stapleton of Blairsville, one sister, Libby Martin of Greensboro, GA., nieces and nephews, Amanda and Jeff Bryan of Leesburg, GA., Blair Stapleton of Lafayette, LA., Brandon and Megan Stapleton of Blairsville, Lauren Phillips of Greensboro, GA., Lindsey and Tracy Merritt of Eatonton, GA.,, several great nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
