Guy Eugene “Bud” Holcomb

Guy Eugene “Bud” Holcomb of Young Harris, GA passed away Sunday December 16, at North East Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. Bud was the son of the late Fred and Faye Rogers Holcomb. He was preceded in death by sisters: Ruth Holcomb, Opal Wimpey, Helen Fain, and brother James “Bill” Holcomb.
Surviving Mr. Holcomb are his wife Earlene Shook Holcomb, son Keith (Karen) Holcomb, daughters Gail (Ron) Day and Angie (Jason) McNabb, and two grandsons Eli and Easton McNabb . Also surviving one brother, Fred Holcomb Jr. (Pat Lord) and one sister Virginia (Ellis) Nix , and sister in law Ellen Holcomb. Also surviving Bud are three step grandchildren , Justin Duncan, Jamie Godfrey, and Christina Hiler, four step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Holcomb will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday December 19, 2018 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Handy and Rev. Todd Flanagan officiating. Special music provided by the Shook family and Rebecca Flanagan. Burial will follow at the Cornerstone Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Gary Holcomb, Larry Holcomb, Brent Shook, Gary Shook, Nathan Allen, and Jamie Godfrey. Cornerstone deacons and trustees will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church where Bud was a member and trustee. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday December 18, 2018 from 6-8 pm at the church.

Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces memorial services for Mr. Edward Louis, “Eddy” Beaver, age 65, of Morganton, Georgia, who passed away on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018 in Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Born in Murphy, North Carolina, Eddy remained a lifelong resident of our area and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Morganton. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Estelline Beaver; grandson, Landon Michael Beaver; and sisters Grovie and Myrtle.
Surviving Eddy is his loving wife: Charlotte Bowers Beaver, of Morganton; daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Scott Avant, of Houston, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Shandel Beaver, of Lemoore, California; and son and daughter-in-law, George and Katie Roberson, of Morganton; sister: Corine Bell, of Tennessee; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil and Ann Beaver, of Blairsville; Claude and Judith Beaver of Epworth, Georgia; brothers: Grady Beaver of Morganton; and Calvin Beaver, of Chatsworth, Georgia; grandchildren: Danielle Avant, Samantha Avant, David Roberson, Sarah Roberson, and Rachel Roberson. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services have been scheduled for Saturday, December 8th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., to be held at Bethel United Methodist Church in Morganton.
The family has suggested that memorial donations be made to The American Heart Association, in lieu of flowers.

Carlyle “Poppy” Sparkman went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2018. He was born April 2, 1925 in Wilson NC, to Preston Cutler and Jennie Mae (McLendon) Sparkman. He grew up on a farm in Rocky Point NC. He served in the Navy in WWII in the Pacific. After the war he went to work as a fruit and vegetable inspector for the Federal State Inspection Service. While inspecting strawberries in Georgiana, AL he spotted the love of his life. He married Dorothy Gwen Dean on November 10, 1948 and they just recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He worked for the federal government in several positions, living in many different cities up and down the eastern United States. He loved to hunt and fish, he loved to build things. After his retirement they moved to Folsom, LA, where he built his own home. Poppy and Granny moved to Blairsville, GA in 2015, where they currently reside.
Poppy is survived by his wife Dot, sons C Dean and wife Patti of Oklahoma City, James P and wife Jean of Mandeville LA, daughter Gwen and husband Andrew Francis of Blairsville GA, ten grandchildren, Deana, Alicia, Cheryl, Christina, Robert, Lela, Sarah, Vanessa, Alice and Aidan, 4 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the World War II Museum in New Orleans La.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, Dec 10 at Bethel West Methodist Church with internment at Bethel West Cemetery in Georgiana AL. The family will meet with friends at the Mountain View Funeral Home on Saturday from 12-3:00 pm.

Mr. James Boyd Nichols passed away at the age of 82 on Sunday, November 25 where he resided in Murphy, NC. He was born on November 2, 1936 in Henderson, KY to the late James E. Nichols, Jr. and Evelyn Boyd Nichols. He attended Decatur High School in Decatur, Ga where he enjoyed playing football and received a full scholarship to play football at Presbyterian College in SC. He also attended the Atlanta Art Institute to pursue his love of art and develop his natural talents. James had a long career with General Motors where he traveled extensively and later in life became an Antique Dealer who obtained his appraisal license. He was a kid at heart that treasured antique toys.
Surviving Mr. Nichols are daughters, Jeanette Norton, Kelley Sevin, Michelle Rock and Colleen Ferrer.
As well as son-in laws, Samuel Norton, Kenneth Rock and Sammy Ferrer.
The surviving grandchildren are, Rachelle Ellis, Shannon Oates, Philip Sevin, Preston Jacob, Nicholas Rock, Patrick Fitzgerald, Kenna Rock and Cyleigh Ferrer.
Great grandchildren are Sage Rogers, Dylan Sevin, James Oates III, Matthew Oates, Ariella Ellis, Analise Ellis, Zoe Jacob, Lydia Jacob, Parker Sevin, Benjamin Ellis and Zane Jacob.

Opal Ann Kenna, age 76, of Blairsville, GA. passed away peacefully at home on November 21, 2018. She was born to parents Wayne & Lorene Holloway on December 1,1941 in Graham County, North Carolina.
She attended Robbinsville High School until 1957. She traveled for many years and made homes in Marietta, Ga, Nantahala, NC and finally settling in Blairsville, Ga.
She enjoyed feeding her birds and working outside in her many flower gardens.
Ann worked in the Hospitality industry for 40 years. She retired from Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris in 2015.
Ann spent many years with her companion Grover Rogers of Blairsville, Ga.
Ann is survived by two daughters, Tina Fletcher of Andrews, NC and Kim Sieck of Blairsville, Ga. She also had two granddaughters, Angela Keenan (Ken Keenan, husband) of Westwood, NJ and Ashley Gregory (Ricky Gregory, husband) of Blairsville, Ga; sisters, Pam Holloway of Robbinsville, NC, Sue Booth of Andrews, NC, and Rita Nesbitt of Houston, TX; and brother, Billy Holloway of Andrews, NC. Ann was blessed to have a great granddaughter, Zoe Keenan, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne & Lorene Holloway; brothers, Dale, Gary & Terry Holloway; sisters, Jo Moore, Laura Reeves & Wanda Crisp
A Memorial and celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces memorial services for Mr. Andrew Franklin, better known as “Frank” Herbert, age 81, of Blairsville, who passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.
Frank was a native of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, but had been living in Blairsville since winter of 1981. He was widely known throughout our area as a general building contractor, both commercial and home construction. Frank developed a reputation of quality and was sought after for numerous and notable projects. For recreation, Frank enjoyed to waterfowl hunt, fish, and square dancing. Frank had been a Kiwanis Club member for many years, and served as President of the Club in 1991-1992. Frank was a proud supporter of Union County 4H Club’s Shotgun Team and believed in promoting responsible gun safety for children.
Family members that will cherish Frank’s memory are: wife, Virginia Humphries Herbert; son and daughter-in-law, Franklin E. and Debbie Herbert; son and daughter-in-law, Keith A. and Karen Herbert; and daughter and son-in-law, Mary L. and Stewart Blankinship; step-sons and their wives, Randy & Janet Tavlin and David & Michelle Tavlin; and step-daughter and her husband, Julie and Bob Smith; sister: Joyce McCleod and sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Richard Ehster; and brother and sister-in-law, David and Becky Herbert; eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren also share in his legacy.
Memorial services have been scheduled for Monday, November 19, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville. Myron Turner will present a eulogy. All past and present Kiwanians are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers for the service. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home for one hour before the service starts.

Mrs. Doris M. Roberts age 85 of Gumlog Rd. Young Harris passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday November 12, 2018 in the Chatuge Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Roberts was born on April 9, 1933 in Young Harris, the daughter of the late Jack McClure and the late Sue Puett McClure. She was a native and lifelong resident of Towns County. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother. Great and great-great grandmother. She especially loved spending time with all of the grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brent Moody in 2017 and a daughter in law, Sandra Roberts in 2016. Mrs. Roberts was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Roberts are her loving husband and best friend of sixty nine years, Earl Roberts of Young Harris, two sons and daughters in law, Terry and Mattie Roberts, Marty and Dedee Roberts all of Young Harris, two daughters and sons in law, Judy and Rex Norton of Young Harris, Cathy Owenby and Paul Scherer of Hiawassee, two brothers and sisters in law, Sonny and Noretta McClure of Pontiac, MI., George and Shelby McClure of Charlotte, NC., one sister and brother in law, Ida and Roy Townsend of Blairsville, nine grandchildren, Craig and Dara Roberts, Dylan Roberts, Danny and Shawna Terry, Glenn and Michelle Barnard, Josh Owenby, Jamie Anderson, Alicia and David Rogers, Derrick and Lori Moody, Ann Moody, seventeen great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday November 16, 2018 at 12:00 pm from the Old Brasstown Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Stiles officiating. Special music will be presented by Tyler Moody. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Josh Owenby, Derrick Moody, Craig Roberts, Dylan Roberts, Glen Barnard and Tyler Moody. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, D.J. Rogers, Andrew Rogers, Lee Anderson, Ethan Moody and Eli Moody. Interment will follow in the Old Brasstown Church Cemetery. Mr. W. Denson Davis age 79 of Richard Russell Hwy., Blairsville passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday October 27 2018 at the North East Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Davis was born on May 25 1939 to the late W.Denson Davis Sr. and Reba Cravey Davis in Tifton Ga. Mr. Davis had made his home in Blairsville for the last 35 years having moved here from Smyrna, Ga. W.D. was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed reading and watching football but he really enjoyed socializing with all walks of life. Mr Davis was preceded in death by a brother Royce Davis in 2005.
Surviving Mr. Davis are his loving wife and best friend of 56 years June Hood Davis of Blairsville two daughters and son in laws Audrey and Junior Lovell of Blairsville, Katherine and Adam Fischer of Dahlonega GA., one sister and brother in law Lynda and Denny Davis of Waycross Ga., two grandchildren Landon Lovell and Abram Fischer., many other friends and relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October the 30 at 11:00 am from the Mountain View Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Hunt officiating. Special music will be presented by Audrey Lovell. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Junior Lovell, Landon Lovell, Adam Fischer, Roy Fortenberry.
Interment will follow at the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8.

Mrs. Judy Lee Stewart Totherow age 70 of Pine View Drive Blairsville passed away peacefully on Friday October 5, 2018 in the North East GA Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Totherow was born on June 3, 1948, the daughter of the late Homer Roberson and the late Frances Burrell Roberson. Judy loved camping, fishing and growing flowers. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Judy was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Totherow are her loving husband and best friend of eighteen years, Jimmy Totherow of Blairsville, one daughter, Lisa Sharp of Andrews, one son and daughter in law, Brad and Angie Colver of Andrews, three brothers and sisters in law, Bobby and Betty Roberson, Haskel and Betty Roberson, Eddie and Janet Roberson all of Murphy, six grandchildren, Tony Sharp. Ashley Cochran, Holly Prather, B.J., Brian and Austin Colver , four great grandchildren, Tucker and Takoda Sharp, Danner and Liam Cochran, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday October 7, 2018 at 2:30 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Tommy Jones and Rev. Jeff Graham officiating. Special music will be presented by the Fairview Church Choir and Preston Graham. Short Takes – Coming Up, the SOTU

Tonight, President Trump will give his first State of the Union speech. It should be a doozy. I
expect it to be a complete success because every speech Trump has made has been a signal
success, except to the Marxists acolytes of the media and the Democrat party.
The Democrat party is in disarray. As things are now going, with the departures of many “deep
state” congressmen and senators of both parties, plus the coming departures of many of the
higher echelons of the FBI and the DoJ, complicit in the pro-Hillary, anti-Trump cabal, reflects
that another of Trumps campaign promises is being fulfilled, draining the “Swamp.”
He will not mention these tawdry issues in his speech because the President is focused on
success. He will remind people of his successes with the growing economy, the reduction of the
regulation state, the collapse of Obamacare, the leveling of free trade policies and the legislative
horror that is illegal immigration being reconstructed on his terms. He will focus also on the
necessity of refunding the military to face off against the Islamic forces that endanger America.
This SOTU speech could actually be rather short because the media have already told us
what’s wrong with the present state of the Union claiming that it’s Trumps fault, but they can’t
argue against the growing success that really is Trumps fault. The media continues to deny that
the Democrats and Obama specifically, had any responsibility for the economic success
America is now experiencing.
Trump’s been in office one year and the economy shot off like a rocket. The incompetent,
feckless Obama stepped up and attempted to claim credit for it and was all but was laughed off
the stage. He’s as silly as Hillary and her “Never Ending Story,” who showed up to cheers at the
sad Grammy awards ceremony to continue her screed that she was cheated out of the
Presidency. She’s the gift that keeps on giving. The Grammys turned out to be a far left wing
televised Hollywood political rally to continue the assault on Donald Trump.
The left, under the leadership of the high ranking theologians of the church of Progressive
policy, Schumer, Durbin, Feinstein and Pelosi, are reeling in confusion wondering what’s
slapped them in the face. It was Trump and the SOTU speech should add fuel to the fire that is
consuming them.
I believe the President will be polite to the Democrats inviting them to help him solve the
immigration problem. Democrats will call, as they always do, for “comprehensive bipartisan
legislation” to help those “Dreamer” children remain here and become citizens. Trump will offer
the hand of agreement and they will refuse it. Schumer has already lost that battle but the
deranged far left will badger him into committing another error in calculation.
Trump is anything but stupid. He understands the power of words, maybe not how to use them
himself, but how others use them. “Comprehensive” is a word Trump knows simply means
capitulation to Democrat demands for amnesty. He will not going there.
Finally, the FISA memo may have been released by today. Trump will ignore it. He’s already
made his case against allegations of collusion and, the Mueller Investigation, apart from being
cluttered up with Hillary acolytes, is becoming a bore to the public. Time is on Trumps side. He’s
making America great again.
Remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, go get ‘em.
Panthers defeat North Hall, Ladies fall to Trojans
Union County High School January 24, 2018Tuesday, Jan 24th the Union County Panthers hosted the North Hall Trojans in a region 7-AAA matchup. The Lady Panthers tipped off at 6. The Panthers followed at 7:30.
Both teams had shots to improve where they stood in the region. The Lady Panthers came into the game 4-5 in region play sitting at 4th place.
The Panthers came into the game 4-5 in region play and were 4th. The Lady Panthers got off to a quick start as they led 18-14 at the end of Q1 led by Mccarter 7. The Lady Trojans got off to a 11-0 run to open the 2Q.
The Lady Panthers scored 6 unanswered points going into the half to tie the game at 25.
A slow Q3 put the Lady Panthers in a tough spot to try to regain the lead as the Lady Panthers scored only 8 in the 3rd to fall behind 45-33.
Guards Brooke Dockrey and Bailey Daniel both fouled out early in Q4 as the Lady Trojans scored 10 points in the finals 2:00 to put the game away. The lady Panthers fall 57-47 to fall to 13-8 and 4-5 in region play.
The Lady Panthers have a 1 game lead of the 5th placed Trojans in the region as they sit in 4th place. The Lady Panthers will host the East Hall VIkings Friday, Jan 26th.
The Panthers followed the Lady Panthers.
The Panthers trailed 7-2 early but led 11-9 at the end of Q1.
UC scored 15 unanswered to open Q2. The Panthers led 29-20 at the half. Drake and Craw. Colwell led UC with 4 points each in Q3 as UC extended the lead 42-31.
A hot Q4 of shooting extended the lead as UC goes on to win 55-42 as Bagget goes 3-3 from 3 in the final 4:00. UC was led by Allison with 13, Bagget and Craw. Colwell score 11.
UC improves to 15-6 and 4-5 in region play. UC will host East Hall Friday, Jan. 26th.
GAC wins big over Panthers, Lady Panthers

Saturday Jan 13th the Lady Panthers tipped off at 6pm against the Lady Spartans of Greater Atlanta Christian Academy.
The Lady Spartans lost their star point guard Robynn Benton, Auburn basketball commit class of 2018. The Lady Panthers seemed well over matched as GAC was ranked the #1 team in the state.
The Lady Panthers never backed down to what would be a hard fought tough four quarters in which the score doesn’t show.
The Lady Panthers were led by Brooke Dockrey in the first quarter as she had 6. Followed by Andelin Hill who had 2. The Lady Panthers trailed 18-6 at the end of Q1. The Lady Panthers trailed ay the half 27-12. The leading scorers at the half were Brooke Dockrey and Andelin Hill 4 points. The Lady Spartans leading scorer was #2 Taylor Sutton with 10 points.
The Lady Panthers scored more points in the third quarter than in the first 2 combined, to trail 43-26 going into the fourth.
Kait McCarter led all scorers in the fourth quarter on both sides with 6 points.
The Lady Panthers fell to the top ranked team 61-38, bringing their record to 12-6 and 4-3 in region play.
The Lady Panthers top scorers were sophomores Kait McCarter and Andelin Hill (10) followed by Brooke Dockrey (8), and Bailey Daniel (6).
The Panthers followed the varsity girls by tipping off at 7:30pm.
The first quarter showed that GAC was all that they’ve been hyped up to be, as Union County trailed 24-12 at the end of the first. The Panthers were led by Pierson Allison (5).
At the half, the Panthers trailed 33-18, sophomore guard Pierson Allison accounted for half of Unions points scoring 9 in the first half.
Fifth-ranked GAC blew things open with a 16-6 third quarter.
The Panthers trailed 49-24 at the end of Q3, but they didn’t hang their heads. They expected a tough game against the region leading Spartans.
Pierson Allison again led all Panther scorers in the 3rd with 4 points.
In the end, the Panthers fell to the Spartans 70-39. With the loss, the Panthers fell to 13-5 and 3-4 in region play.
The Panthers top scorers were Pierson Allison (13), Patrick Baggett (10), RJ Banton and Candler Colwell both scored 4. The Panthers were scheduled to travel to Pickens County Tuesday Jan 16, but those games were canceled due to inclement weather and have yet to be rescheduled.
Pipe bust forces basketball schedule changes

A hyrdonic pipe burst in the sprinkler system outside of the Union County High School gymnasium caused administrators to make a quick decision with regard for the safety of students, spectators and school administration. The East Hall High School basketball teams were scheduled to play at UCHS, but with water leaking and likely to freeze on the sidewalk outside the entrance of the facility; the decision to reschedule was an obvious choice.
“The pipe broke before East Hall got there,” UCHS athletic director Bryan Allison told TeamFYNSports Wednesday afternoon. The good news: It’s already been fixed.
The bad news? Not necessarily bad – but the games have been rescheduled for tonight (Wed) at East Hall High School in Gainesville. The varsity girls tip-off at 5pm, with the boys game following at 6:30pm. TeamFYNSports will provide courtside coverage and a full story about the game will be up tomorrow.
Union County hosts annual football banquet

On Tuesday, Dec 5, the Union County Panthers held their annual banquet and award ceremony. This event was hosted at Antioch Baptist Church in Blairsville, and it was the first time Antioch had ever hosted the banquet. Organized by the Union County Quarterback Club, the event proved to be another success thanks to the hard work and participation by everyone involved.
The night got kicked off as players and families were fed steak and spaghetti dinners.
Head coach Brian Allison followed up the meal by starting the awards ceremony and introducing all of the coaches on his staff. The awards, which are selected by the coaches, are each given to the hardest working player at that position (and to whom contributed the most on and off the field to the team). The receivers “caught” their awards first – no pun intended.
Outside receiver coach Paul McBride presented his award to Sawyer Drake. Drake had 38 receptions for a team-high 63 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Inside receiver coach James Avery selected senior Austin Pattee for his reward. Pattee led the team with 43 catches.
Quarterbacks and running backs coach (and offensive coordinator) Howard Mccombs was the next to present his award, and everyone in the room knew exactly where it was going. Senior quarterback Cole Wright had an outstanding season. Wright will continue his playing career at the United States Military Academy, also known as Army or West Point, where he plans to enroll next fall. Wright finished the year with 3,081 total yards of offensive and a combined 36 touchdowns.
To close the Offensive awards out, junior lineman Coleson Daniel was presented with the Offensive Line award, presented by coach Neil Setzer and Parker Daniel. Without the effort and consistent blocking up front, the offense would not have performed as well as it did this year. Coleson Daniel was a huge part of that effort.
Defensive Coordinator and defensive backs coach Robby Roxbury was first to kick off the defensive awards, and senior cornerback Sean Dobbins was presented with the defensive backs award. Dobbins finished the season with 50 total tackles.
Senior lineman Matthew Beise was awarded the defensive line award by coach Gabe Miller. Beise finished the season with 48 total tackles.
Inside linebackers coach Greg Chambers awarded senior RJ Banton, who led the team in total tackles with 108 tackles.
Outside Linebackers coach Wade Hodges awarded senior and 3-year varsity starter Cole Dockrey with the Iron Panther award. This award is given to the player who contributes on both sides of the ball, displays the highest work ethic on and off the field, and is a leader in more ways than one. Dockery finished the season with 50 total tackles, 372 yards of offense, and a touchdown.
It was a night of celebration as players, coaches and family members gathered to reflect on the performance by the Union County Panthers varsity football team one last time this year.

Mr. Dylan Mark Headrick age 22 of Davenport Court Blairsville formerly of McDonough, GA. passed away peacefully on Sunday June 2, 2019 at Northeast GA Medical Center following a brief illness. Dylan was born on June 5, 1996 in Watsonville, CA., the son of Mark C. Headrick and Thea Nina Powell Headrick. Dylan has been described as one of the kindest, purest hearts you’d ever meet, and brilliant beyond his years. He had attended Georgia Tech and was an amazing woodworker, musician, tinkerer, mechanic and engineer, but most importantly, a loving, caring son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend. In his short life, he touched the lives of so many who knew him. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Johnny Powell and an uncle, Kip Headrick.
Surviving Dylan are his parents, Mark and Thea Headrick of Blairsville, one sister and her fiancé, Carly Mae Headrick of Blairsville and Andrew Moody of McDonough, grandparents, Dave and Shirley Hulligan of East Wenatchee, WA., Jay and Joan Headrick of Magalia, CA., aunts and uncles, Jim and Carmen Darcey of Squaw Valley, CA., Clark and Eileen Headrick of Clarkston, MI., several cousins and many other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Dylan’s Life will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the charity closest to your heart in Dylan’s memory.

Reverend James Marshall Lee, of Young Harris, GA age 80, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 30th. After a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He Loved God and loved working for God (reading his bible, preaching the gospel and adding more Christian’s to GOD’s flock) His love for his family and friends were beyond measure. In his pass time he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones (Family and Friends) visiting, helping and praying with his neighbors, drawing, painting, woodworking, fishing, gardening, and rock hunting, His hard working careers included: Grocery Store Manager, Owner/CEO of Lee’s Janitorial Service, Bus Driver for Towns County School System, Arbor Acres, and Union County Road Dept.
He was born the son of Joe Van Lee and Clyde Carter Lee, of Hayesville, NC.
He was proceeded in death by his Father (Joe) and Mother(Clyde), of Hayesville, NC His Brother and (best buddy) Ralph Lake Lee, of Warne, NC. Infant Son Daniel Jerome Lee, Infant Daughter Marrissa LeAnn Lee, Mother in Law: Estee “Edna” Ramey Bradley Chastain Three Brother in Laws Rev. Frank Dockery, Robert E. Brown, and Robert Dye Two Nephew’s: Zyndall Dye, and Mark Dockery, one Niece: Shirley Mae Dockery Grizzle and two Great Nephew’s: Andrew Brown and Jeff Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geneva Chastain Lee, Son: Jason James and wife Wendy Marie Lee, of Young Harris, GA Daughter: Meda Lorinda Lee-McWhorter and Husband Benny of LaGrange, GA. Sister: Ruby Lee Dockery, Blairsville, GA. four grandsons: Justin and wife Sara Lee, Hayesville, NC, Brandon and wife Keltsey Lee, Blairsville, GA, Jordan Lee, Young Harris, GA , Ben A., Jr and wife Ashley McWhorter. one granddaughter: Kim and husband Brian Huckleberry Eight great-grands: Alex McVay, Jacob J, Lee, Jenna H. Lee, Cohen McWhorter, Jackson, Garrett, Addison Huckleberry, and MaryKalen Bryant. two sister-in-laws: Annie Mae Bradley Brown and Genette Chastain Dye, Brother in Law: Ernest and wife Sue Chastain all of Young Harris, GA, As he always said; at the end of his sermons: “He loved everybody, each and everyone of you.”
Funeral services will be held on Sunday June 2, 2019 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Pastor Ray Potts and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Special music will be presented by Alice McDonald and Spirit Led. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Justin Brandon and Jordan Lee, Alex McVay, Benny McWhorter and Scottie Brown. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Clearance Kirby, James (Buddy ) Mason and Jacob Lee. Interment and graveside services will be held in the Many Forks Baptist Church Cemetery with the North GA Honor Guard conducting Military Honors. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, donations may be made to the Many Forks Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in Rev. Lee’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6-9:00 pm.
